What's the opportunity
Reporting to the strategic sourcing manager, you will be responsible for delivering the strategic direction and the commercial management of chassis systems commodity.
What you will do:
- Project Management: Lead the procurement activities for assigned automotive projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with project timelines and objectives.
- Supplier Sourcing and Selection: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for project components and materials based on project requirements, quality standards, cost targets, and supplier capabilities.
- Negotiation and Contract Management: Conduct negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions, including pricing, delivery schedules, and quality standards. Manage contracts throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks.
- Cost Management: Monitor project budget and expenses related to procurement activities. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimise project costs without compromising quality or timelines.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks related to procurement activities and develop mitigation plans to minimise impact on project objectives. Proactively address issues and challenges to ensure project continuity.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and logistics, to ensure alignment of procurement activities with project requirements and timelines.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function, implementing best practices and process enhancements to optimise efficiency and effectiveness.
Who you are:
- Significant procurement experience in direct procurement in a manufacturing/production-based environment, ideally within automotive or aerospace, but not essential
- Experienced negotiator with a proven track record of end-to-end supply base management (strategy, sourcing, delivery, cost and management)
- Strong influencing skills with experience of creating and maintaining networks across all levels of the business
- Understand and analyse key cost drivers in manufacturing and supply chain management, with proven record of optimising costs which deliver value to the business
- Ability to develop and implement multi-system strategies to optimise cost, rationalise supply base, minimise risk and deliver increased value in technical attributes/performance
