General Summary
The Media Services Technician is responsible for the movement of data within the studio for Production, Marketing and most other departments. This position assumes tasks related to media including asset management, reviews and quality control (QC).
Job Functions
- Render and distribute data in accordance with departmental standards and needs; apply strict security measures to data leaving the studio.
- Prepare and project internal reviews including departmental reviews, production dailies, weeklies and VIP screenings.
- Update and curate internal and 3rd party digital asset management systems.
- Inspect and confirm integrity of media before it leaves the studio, including providing quality control (QC) for media intended for a wide audience.
- Support and coordinate closely with Marketing on initiatives for social, consumer products, and others; and on special projects for various departments in need of archival assets and media support.
- Perform basic video editorial and graphics-related tasks.
- Communicate with Legal department to ensure proper clearance on all production and marketing materials leaving the studio.
- Gather materials for external presentations for conferences, events and partnerships.
- Serve as crew member on internal A/V events, including playback, lights, audio, video, remote viewing, recording and teleprompting.
- Support the monitoring and troubleshooting of the render farm; flag issues and collaborate with Production Technology and Technology for fixes.
Qualifications
- 1-2+ years knowledge of and experience in data management, data integrity and naming conventions.
- Highly organized problem solver with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to multi-task and manage tight deadlines.
- Strong collaborator, values customer service, projects enterprising attitude and strives to maximize team/department performance.
- Basic technical understanding of film/broadcast workflows.
- Basic knowledge of visual media file types such as TIF, PNG, JPEG, CR2, MOV, MP4; and video concepts such as transcoding, letterboxing, streaming, codecs and aspect ratios.
- Ability to learn new software quickly, and learn on the job, if necessary.
- Basic understanding of file transfer services – Aspera, Hightail, Signiant, etc.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere and/or Avid, Photoshop, Shotgun, FileMaker Pro, a plus.
- Experience in Terminal and scripting, a plus.
- Film/stage/post-production experience, a plus.
- Ability to communicate professionally with all employees, including studio leadership and VIP guests.
