School Psychologist

Location: High Tech High Point Loma
Reports To: Director of Special Education
FLSA Classification: Certificated, 200-day
Full Time/Part Time Status: Salary, full time, exempt
Regular/Temporary: Regular
Salary: School Psychologist Framework (Steps 1-25) Range: $84,480 to $120,725. Salary is commensurate with experience and education level.

SUMMARY
The School Psychologist provides psychological services in order to help identify and evaluate the learning, developmental, and psychosocial capacities and functioning of students. The School Psychologist uses student assessment data to assist teaching teams to develop appropriate interventions and programs and works collaboratively with teachers, service providers, parents, and case managers to enhance support within our inclusive, project-based learning environment.

DUTIES INCLUDE:
Data-Based Decision Making
Provide psychoeducational assessments of students; participate in IEP meetings to interpret assessment results and make recommendations.
Provide written reports analyzing, interpreting, and summarizing assessment results, observations, and information from school personnel, students, and parents.
Use student assessment data to assist teaching teams with identifying appropriate interventions and programs.

Consultation and Collaboration
Meet with parents and teachers to discuss learning, behavioral, familial, and social problems.
Establish and maintain clear communication and cooperative working relationships with students, staff, parents, and other agencies.
Collaborate and consult with special education teams to assist with IEP development, compliance, and program development and implementation.

Academic Interventions and Instructional Supports
Understand and utilize assessment methods to assist school teams with identifying strengths and needs, developing effective interventions, services, and programs, and measuring progress and outcomes within a Multi-tiered System of Support.
Make recommendations for evidence-based interventions, curriculum, and instructional strategies to meet the needs of individual students, groups of students, or the whole school.
Assist IEP teams with identifying data collection methods to implement and evaluate services that support academic, social/emotional, behavioral skill development.

Mental and Behavioral Health Services and Interventions
Design, implement and evaluate school-wide SEL practices that promote resilience and positive behavior, support socialization, and adaptive skills, and enhance mental and behavioral health.
Conduct individual and group counseling, including brief, short-term, and long-term services.
Conduct risk assessments, threat assessments, and counsel victims in crisis; facilitate re-entry meetings for students returning from hospitalization, and create safety plans when necessary.
Conduct functional behavior assessments, develop behavior intervention plans, and work with staff to implement and monitor such plans.

School-Wide Practices to Promote Learning
In collaboration with others, develop and implement practices and strategies to create and maintain safe, effective, and supportive learning environments for students and staff.
Participate in the development, monitoring, and evaluation of school-wide Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)Develop, coordinate, and provide in-service training to staff, parents, and district personnel.

Services to Promote Safe and Supportive Schools
In collaboration with others, promote preventive and responsive services that enhance learning, mental and behavioral health, and psychological and physical safety.
Assist school leadership with the implementation of effective crisis prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery.

Family, School, and Community Collaboration
In collaboration with others, design, implement and evaluate services that respond to culture and context.
Facilitate family and school partnerships and interactions with community agencies to enhance academic and social-behavioral outcomes for students.
Provide parent education and training to build capacity within families to support student learning and social/emotional wellness.

Equitable Practices for Diverse Student Populations
Recognize that equitable practices for diverse student populations, respect for diversity in development and learning, and advocacy for social justice are foundational to effective service delivery.
Assist school leadership with the evaluation of systems and programs through an equity lens and the goal of eliminating disproportionality within special education.

Research and Evidence-Based Practice
Evaluate and apply current research as a foundation for service delivery and establishing best practices.
Utilize various techniques and technology resources for data collection, measurement, and analysis to support and ensure effective, evidence-based practices.

Legal, Ethical, and Professional Practice
Provide services consistent with ethical, legal, and professional standards; engage in responsive ethical and professional decision-making.
Maintain professional competencies in areas of responsibility; maintain contact with and participate in professional job-related organizations and serve as a liaison to professional groups.
Track services for Medi-Cal billing.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
CA Pupil Personnel Services School Psychology Credential (or equivalent license from another state and clear eligibility for immediate credentialing as a school psychologist in California)
Master's Degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution
Minimum one year of experience as a credentialed school psychologist, or graduation from an accredited graduate program with at least one full year or equivalent as a school psychologist intern
