Duties:
The Immunology group within the Discovery Department is looking for a motivated, diligent and energetic individual to fill a Research Associate level position. Individual is expected to performin vitro and in vivo assays to contribute towards the discovery and preclinical evaluation of immunotherapeutics and vaccines targeted against disease resulting from bacterial infection. Individual will be responsible for developing bioanalytical and immunological methods, performing experiments, and analyzing data generated from experiments designed to characterize immune response elicited to vaccination, characterize antibodies, and study pathogenesis of bacterial targets. Individual is responsible for documenting work in electronic lab notebooks and performing laboratory support activities such as maintaining equipment and ordering lab supplies. Individual is responsible for summarizing experimental findings and reporting results to the supervisor. Individual may also be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Skills:
Hands-on experience in developing immunoassays such as ELISA, ELISpot and flow cytometry as well as experience in executing cell-based assays is required. Experience with ECL and Luminex-type assays is also desirable.
Experience handling small laboratory animals is required. Experience utilizing preclinical models to evaluate the virulence and pathogenicity of infectious agents is desirable.
The willingness and ability to safely handle BSL2 class agents is required. Experience with anaerobic bacterial culture and microbiological techniques is preferred.
Excellent attention to detail and reliability are essential.
Ability to work as a team member, to follow directions effectively and to manage multiple tasks is required.
Experience with Microsoft Excel, Softmax Pro and GraphPad Prism or other statistical analysis software is a plus.
Education:
B.S. with minimum four years experience or M.S. degree with minimum one year experience in Biochemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, or related field. Experience working in biopharmaceutical or vaccine industry desirable.
