<p><strong>Job Title: </strong>Education, Training and Employability Officer (Fixed Term Contract)<br><br><strong></strong><strong>Department: </strong>Education and Employability</p><p><strong>Reports to: </strong>Programme Manager - Training Ground Programme</p><p><strong>Salary: </strong>£25,000- £26,000 (Dependent on Experience)</p><p><strong>Contract: </strong>Fixed Term (6 Months)</p><p><strong>Working Pattern: </strong>Full Time. </p><p>Consideration will also be given for Part-Time hours from 2 - 4 days a week. Staff will be required to undertake regular safeguarding training to enable and reinforce a proactive approach to safeguarding. This role requires the post holder to apply all relevant policies and uphold the club’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable people to ensure a safe environment for all. This includes the timely reporting of any safeguarding concern to the safeguarding team.</p><p><strong>General Trust Accountabilities</strong></p><ul><li>To ensure compliance with all relevant policies, including health and safety and safeguarding policies</li><li>To ensure compliance with all relevant legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements</li><li>To build and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally, maintaining a professional image at all times when representing Brentford FC Community Sports Trust</li><li>To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Trust and its personnel</li><li>To maintain a flexible approach to work at all times</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>The Training Ground Programme <br></strong>Training Ground uses the power of the club badge to engage with young people whom universal support cannot reach. Working with targeted participants, aged 16-24, who are not in employment, education, or training (NEET), the programme provides, one-to-one mentoring, wraparound support, and access to physical activity sessions and mental health, employability, and life skills workshops. </p><p>The programme will target those furthest from the labour market and with additional support needs, for example, looked after or care experienced, young carers, homeless or at risk of homelessness, those with experience of substance abuse, previous involvement with criminal activity, and/or SEND. </p><p><strong>Main Purpose of Job</strong></p><p>You will provide 1:1 mentoring to a caseload of participants (aged 16-24), on the Training Ground programme. Your sessions will support them in developing the skills and confidence to take positive steps towards employment, education, or training. Working with your mentee over a period of time you will set goals and provide the support they need to meet these goals. </p><p>The post holder will have experience of providing support to individuals from a range of backgrounds and will have the ability to build and maintain relationships with employers, and other external stakeholders and agencies. </p><p>You will be good with administration and understand the value of keeping good records on your meetings and 1:1 conversations. You will track progress and collect evidence to show the distance the participants have travelled. </p><p>You will work with multi-agency partners to identify the barriers that have prevented young people from engaging in education and employment and help them to develop strategies to overcome these challenges. The post holder will have a passion for supporting others to reach their potential. </p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><p><strong>1:1 Mentoring</strong></p><ul><li>To provide one-to-one mentoring to a caseload of participants; in the community, on the sports pitch, on the phone, and online, enabling participants to identify, assess, and address barriers to engaging with education, employment, and training, as well as sourcing the most appropriate support and signposting to other services. This might include wraparound support that needs to be provided (e.g., support to access housing or mental health services).</li><li>Work with participants to understand their strengths and development areas, creating person-centred, targeted plans and setting goals to help them achieve positive outcomes. </li></ul><p><strong>Stakeholder Engagement </strong></p><ul><li>Build positive relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders and referral partners, to identify and recruit participants for the Training Ground programme.</li><li>Build networks with local employers, training providers, JCP, and other organisations who can support young people with progression pathways and to access services. </li><li>Work with the Careers and Employability Coordinator to identify meaningful work placement opportunities for young people. </li></ul><p><strong>Data and Administration</strong></p><ul><li>Regularly review and monitor the progress of young people on the programme and guide interventions / wraparound support.</li><li>Maintain a record of participant engagement, including skills developed, increased confidence, and progress towards an EET outcome. </li></ul><p><strong>Safeguarding </strong></p><ul><li>Maintain good records of all participant engaging, escalating concerns quickly. </li><li>Work closely with the Safeguarding Manager to ensure all cases and participants receive appropriate support.</li><li>To maintain a working knowledge of safeguarding and effective practice in supporting young people into education, training, and employment.</li></ul><p><strong>Key Internal Relationships</strong></p><ul><li>Careers and Employability Coordinator</li><li>Safeguarding Manager</li></ul><p><strong>Key External Relationships</strong></p><ul><li>The English Football League Trust (EFLT)</li><li>Community stakeholders and referral agencies</li><li>Schools, colleges, and training providers</li><li>Employers and local businesses </li></ul><p><strong>The Selection Criteria Essential</strong></p><ul><li>Experience of youth work or mentoring </li><li>Experience of providing support to young people with complex needs.</li><li>Experience of working with young people to create and follow action plans.</li><li>Experience of designing and delivering interventions to address barriers to education, employment and training.</li><li>Effective and creative engagement skills with young people.</li><li>Good administrative skills and record keeping </li><li>High levels of emotional intelligence and empathy</li><li>Knowledge and understanding of and commitment to anti-discriminatory practice</li></ul><p><strong>Desirable: </strong></p><ul><li>Experience of coordinating services for young people</li><li>Experience of working with referral agencies and stakeholders </li><li>Familiarity with community clubs and the work of the English Football League Trust and the Premier League Charitable Fund</li></ul><p><strong>Personal Qualities:</strong></p><ul><li>Passionate about supporting those with barriers to achieve their potential.</li><li>Possess a can-do attitude to all tasks and willing to go the extra mile for young people.</li><li>Lead by example and act with integrity at all times.</li><li>Ability to innovate and inspire with a willingness to take calculated risks and challenge the norm.</li><li>Committed to continuous improvement, strive to deliver the best possible outcomes.</li><li>Commitment to personal development and keen to improve practice.</li></ul><ul></ul><ul></ul><p><br></p><ul></ul><p><strong>Please note that where appropriate for the role, you </strong><strong>will</strong><strong> be required to complete additional background checks such as Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and police checks for </strong><strong>any time you have lived or worked outside of the UK in the last 10 years.</strong><strong> You can find out more about this at</strong> <a href="https://www.gov.uk/dbs-check-applicant-criminal-record"><strong>https://www.gov.uk/dbs-check-applicant-criminal-record</strong></a></p><p><strong>Please also note that a CV application will not be sufficient.
