The Role:
Reporting to the Vice President, Medical Affairs, the Director, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) is responsible for developing and implementing the US HEOR strategy supporting Nuvalent’s portfolio. This role will design and perform health economic and outcome research projects/studies focusing on value, positioning, and unmet needs to support best possible market access. You will also lead field-based, customer-focused initiatives and engage healthcare and access stakeholders in clinical, scientific, and health economic exchange. Importantly, you will foster and identify opportunities to collaborate across functions and be instrumental in launch planning.
Responsibilities:
- Support development and standardization of key data generation policies and processes.
- Responsible for developing and executing HEOR medical strategy and related evidence generation and stakeholder engagement planning.
- Collaborate with Medical Affairs to incorporate key HEOR initiatives into overall medical strategy, evidence generation, and stakeholder engagement plans.
- Drive HEOR and real-world evidence generation projects, including development of research plans, protocols, budgets, conduct analyses, and prepare drafts and final reports, abstracts, and manuscripts.
- Develop and execute HEOR modeling activities (including budget impact, cost effectiveness, etc) and outcomes analyses (including claims, patient reported outcomes, etc) to support and inform access initiatives.
- Act as the key internal HEOR point of contact for evidence generation projects, services, and technologies.
- Provide HEOR and Medical support to cross-functional initiatives, including partnering with Commercial, Market Access, and Regulatory to shape brand, access, and launch strategy.
- Identify and maintain relationships with HEOR and market access key opinion leaders, healthcare and access decision makers including pharmacy benefit management, specialty pharmacies, and other clinical/academic consultants within assigned responsibility.
- Lead field-based, customer-focused initiatives and engage healthcare and access stakeholders in clinical, scientific, and health economic exchange.
- Proactively represent the evidence needs of health care decision makers within HEOR and other stakeholders to ensure that unmet needs are identified and prioritized in planning processes.
- Continually educate the organization on the latest developments and thinking in HEOR as it relates to Evidence Based Medicine, regulatory processes, and reimbursement policies.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of the evolving healthcare environment, health technology assessment, or other topics.
- Develop annual HEOR tactical plan and aligned budget- monitor and manage the assigned budget and relationships with vendors to deliver projects in alignment with timelines and defined objectives.

Qualifications:
- Advanced, medical / scientific doctoral level degree required: MD, PharmD, PhD.
- 10+ years of relevant Pharmacoeconomics professional experience in the biomedical or pharmaceutical industry, managed care, public sector, academic organization, or HEOR research organization.
- Global product launch experience.
- Demonstrated experience in oncology managed care and access landscape.
- Demonstrated thorough knowledge of US and global real-world data sources and payer claims.
- Displays strong understanding of the US and global healthcare environment and applies understanding in support of HEOR activities.
- Experience developing and executing HEOR modeling activities (including budget impact, cost effectiveness, etc) and outcomes analyses (including claims, patient reported outcomes, etc)
- Excellent qualitative and quantitative skills, including study design analysis and interpretation of data from observational research.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross functional team environment is expected.
- Broad experience in collaborating with research partners and in managing multiple tasks and complex projects.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of medical communications trends, best practices, and the evolving medical communications landscape.
- Experience in identifying, on-boarding, and managing a Medical Information Call Center.
- Ability to articulate complex scientific and medical information in understandable business terms.
- Up to 20% domestic travel
