From designing tools that help individuals navigate their financial future to building new retirement offerings, the Product Design team plays a central role in contributing to Guideline’s mission of ensuring everyone arrives at retirement with a plan.
What you’ll do at Guideline:
- Be a founding designer for a completely new bet for Guideline, with the opportunity to transform how new products work alongside our 401(k) offering today
- Partner with product management, engineering, design and research teams to define and implement new product initiatives
- Lead design strategy and execution for new products and workstreams in a complex problem space
- Identify ways to test and validate concepts and features quickly without utilizing engineering resources
- Align stakeholders across all levels of the organization around proposed concepts
- Craft intuitive and engaging user journeys that connect with our audience
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years of experience designing for cross-platform web and mobile software applications
- Demonstrated ability to design simple solutions to complex user problems
- A knack for navigating ambiguous problems and shape them into clear goals
- Product thinker with the ability to design solutions that iteratively scale from MVP to north star
- Strong storytelling and communication to articulate design decisions across the broader organization
- An eye for high-quality, well-crafted visual and interaction design
While it’s not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
- Experience launching a 0 to 1 product
- Preferred experience in complex industries like FinTech, HealthTech, or InsureTech
- Experience with research and user-testing
- Systems thinker who understands how parts come together and scale as a greater whole

Compensation
At Guideline, we believe compensation should be fair and equitable. We take a data-driven approach to set our compensation bands; the successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and work location. We are always evaluating our pay zones to be as competitive as possible, so keep in mind these may be subject to change in the future.

- Metro+
- The base salary range for this position is $170,500-$188,000 annually.
- Metro
- The base salary range for this position is $154,000-$171,500 annually.
- National
- The base salary range for this position is $147,500-$165,000 annually.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for equity in the form of Incentive Stock Options (ISOs).
