We are seeking a dedicated User Experience Researcher for a four month contract with the intent to go full time. This role focuses on enhancing user experiences through meticulous research and insightful analysis. You will play a pivotal role in understanding user needs, behaviors, and motivations to inform design and product development decisions, including usability for software as a medical device. As part of the UX and WHOOP Labs teams, you'll conduct in-person research studies, employing both qualitative and quantitative methods to gather actionable insights that drive our product. This position requires a deep commitment to improving user experiences by advocating for the user at every stage of the product development process.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and execute comprehensive user research projects, utilizing a range of methods such as interviews, usability testing, surveys, and field studies, to gather deep insights into user needs and behaviors.
- Collaborate closely with UX design, WHOOP Labs, Product Management, and engineering teams to translate research findings into actionable product insights and strategies.
- Develop and refine user personas, journey maps, and usage scenarios to help the team understand user needs and behaviors.
- Design and conduct A/B tests and other evaluative research methods to validate hypotheses and inform design decisions.
- Present research findings to stakeholders in a clear, concise, and impactful manner, providing actionable recommendations for product improvements.
- Foster a culture of user empathy within the team, ensuring user-centered perspectives are incorporated into product development.
- Work closely with the WHOOP Labs ReOps team to manage research participant recruitment and logistics for in-person studies, ensuring a diverse and representative sample of users.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven track record in user experience research, with a strong portfolio showcasing previous research projects and their impact on product decisions.
- Proficiency in a variety of user research methods and tools, including but not limited to interviews, usability studies, survey design, and data analysis.
- Experience conducting in-person user research.
- Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to distill complex research findings into clear, actionable insights.
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience working closely with cross-functional teams including designers, product managers, and engineers.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex research findings and recommendations in a clear and persuasive manner.
- Experience and familiarity with Usability Engineering for medical devices - IEC 62366, FDA Guidance.
- A bachelor's degree in Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, User Experience, or a related field.
- A passion for creating products that meet user needs and exceed user expectations.
This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.
