ENTER THE GAME
You will be based in Lisbon and will join our Legal & Compliance team whose role is obtain and maintain online gambling licenses, and ensure Betclic compliance with applicable gambling laws and regulation in Portugal. You will build and manage relationship with, and defend Betclic’s interests before the Serviço de Regulação e Inspeção de Jogos (SRIJ) – the Portuguese gambling regulator.
YOUR ROLE WITHIN BETCLIC
In this context, your missions are as follows:
- Develop expert knowledge of the Portuguese online gambling regulation, track regulatory evolutions and inform business accordingly
- Be the main point of contact and develop a constructive relationship with SRIJ
- Prepare, ensure consistency and keep track of regular reporting submitted to SRIJ (in cooperation with other departments involved)
- Roll-out compliance training across key functions within the company
- Produce simple and actionable interpretations of the rules applicable for business units
- Review and validate the compliance of key projects (IT, marketing, account, payment, etc.) in Portugal
- Support launch of products by getting required homologations and certification
- Detect & mitigate non-compliance, and follow-up on the correction of compliance incidents
- Manage administrative misconduct litigation proceedings, in relation with external counsel
- Contribute on an ad-hoc basis to public affairs initiatives
- Manage a junior compliance officer dedicated to the Portuguese market
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We're looking for colleagues with a good sense of humor, respect, and kindness, a bit of zeal, and a real passion for their profession!
- Native Portuguese speaker and full fluency in English (written and oral) required. Knowledge of French is a plus.
- Master’s degree of Superior School or University (preferably in Law, Political Sciences or Business/Audit)
- A minimum of ten years of professional experience
- Significant prior experience in gambling would be ideal, or in a Compliance function within a regulated industry (banking, insurance, telecommunications, etc.)
- An experience in management
- Interest in sports and technology
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, ease in contacts, diplomacy
- Capacity to absorb complexity and be pragmatic
- Strong vulgarization and analytical skills
- Integrity, good raising of information
- Capacity for autonomy and team work
WHAT ARE THE RECRUITMENT STEPS?
- If your application is successful, Elodie will contact you within a week to schedule a 30-minute HR prequalification interview
- Afterward, you will be asked to complete the AssessFirst test, which assesses your personality, motivations, and reasoning
- Next, you'll meet Alexandre, Head of Compliance (your future manager), then Sarah, General Counsel
- Finally, Elodie will conduct a concluding HR interview where you will review and discuss the results of your AssessFirst test.
To provide an ideal candidate experience, the Betclic recruitment process typically lasts 4 to 6 weeks.
