Requirement Description:-
 
This is a dual BA and PM consulting role working on Decision Analytics and Data Centric projects. 
As a BA, the primary responsibility is gathering and documenting business functional and non-functional requirements, reviewing with the document with business stakeholders and finalizing and obtaining a sign off from the stakeholders on the completeness and accuracy of the specifications document.  As a  business analyst he / she also plays an integral part with the testing team and helps in creating and / or coordinating the test cases preparation, test data creation where necessary and coordinating test execution, defect analysis and resolution. 
 
As the Project Manager he / she is responsible for ensuring that small to medium sized data and information related projects are managed with high quality to on-time, on-budget and in-scope completion.  In this capacity he/she works in collaboration with the business unit and IT sponsors to establish project goals, success criteria and risk assessments. In close cooperation with the architecture team, he/she ensures alignment of solutions with Gen Re's IT strategy and especially with overall data governance.  He/she is fully responsible for organization of the project team, coordination of delivery within the various IT teams, status tracking and stakeholder reporting and overall success of the effort.  Serve as a backup for other project managers in the team as needed.
 
Specific Accountabilities as BA:
  • Gather and document project specific functional and non-functional requirements in the functional specifications document template.
  • Establish and continuously facilitate appropriate communication amongst the business stakeholders, ensure proper documentation of priorities and ensure requirements are in line with the overall scope of the project.
  • Coordinate and help in creation of test cases, test scenarios, test data for all levels of testing including integration testing, system testing and user acceptance testing.
  • Work on Data Warehousing and other data centric projects.
  • Help with coordinating with the infrastructure teams to ensure timely availability of test environments.
  • Conduct and facilitate appropriate meetings with the design and development teams to review the functional specifications document.
 
Specific Accountabilities as PM:
  • Champion projects related to Data Warehouse and Decision Analytics areas and manage the initiatives successfully through all phases within the given constraints time, budget, scope and quality.
  • Establish and continuously facilitate appropriate communication amongst the stakeholders and teams, ensure clarity on goals, priorities and concrete responsibilities for all team members.
  • Define project goals, success criteria and expectations with stakeholders.
  • Create and manage a realistic and credible project plan  with buy-in from all resources involved and the business sponsor; this includes definition/tailoring of an appropriate project lifecycle.
  • Negotiate project deliverables, milestones and target dates.
  • Establish consistent project risk management and change control processes.
  • Responsible for the project to comply with IT and data architectural standards, performance standards, and business continuity and disaster recovery requirements
  • Work closely with the project governance team and provide periodic status update to higher management.
  • Work closely with the support teams to manage the transition and warranty period
 
 
Experience/Skills Required:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a business analyst in insurance / Reinsurance industries.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience as a project manager independently managing small to medium sized projects in insurance / financial industries.
  • 2 or more years of experience in using Client ALM for tracking the requirements through all phases of the SDLC
  • Strong data background and sound technical knowledge in SQL server database
  • Experience in all Microsoft office 2010 tools – Word, Excel, Power point, Visio, Project
  • Very strong communication (both verbal and written), negotiation, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience with implementation of data warehouse and enterprise reporting systems.
  • Proven track record in delivering projects on-time, on-budget and in-scope
  • Experience in managing projects in a global, matrix environment with internal (IT and Business) and external (3rd Party Service Provider, on- and off- shore) teams, located in different continents and time zones
  • Experience with data analytics  projects a plus.
 
Education Required:
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in an Information Technology or Management Information Systems discipline.
  • Project Management Certification (PMI, PRINCE2).
  • CBAP certification (IIBA) and any other business analysis and / or business process management related certification desirable.
