As a Power Electronics Engineer at TTP you will apply your skills and expertise to a range of exciting and fast-moving projects as part of our Energy & Materials team.

We work with clients from start-ups through to large corporations that are engaged in all aspects of the energy transition, including renewable power generation, hydrogen production by electrolysis, energy storage, green ammonia production, and carbon capture. High power electrical and electronic systems underpin all these technologies, and the scale and needs of the energy transition brings huge new opportunities for innovation in these areas.

Our ambition is to grow the business rapidly, to engage with corporate clients and technology start-ups, to leverage our multi-disciplinary science, technology, and engineering skillset, to help those clients respond to the global challenges of net-zero, sustainability, and the energy transition.

As a consultant at TTP, you will work on a range of engineering challenges, using your solid grounding in scientific and first-principles engineering knowledge to identify and develop solutions to real-world problems across a range of industries. This will involve a mix of desk-based ideas-generation and problem solving as well as hands-on experimental work.

With superb facilities, training, and the freedom to innovate, your future at TTP is what you make it. We value ambition, leadership and technical excellence and we provide a fantastic environment to develop your career.

Requirements

We welcome applications from Power Electronics Engineers with a background in research and development, who can demonstrate a desire to move into a fast-paced environment, who can offer a track record of academic achievement and industrial experience in this sector.

You will have the opportunity to apply your expertise across the full lifecycle of product and process development. Knowledge of modelling tools and experience of working with medium voltage systems would be an advantage.

An in-depth interview process will explore your ability to apply and communicate the first principles of power electronics engineering to resolve a broad range of real-world problems.

We would like to hear about your collaborative, analytical and structured approach to tackling complex technical challenges in your application.  Your experience might include:

  • High power AC-DC and DC-DC converter topologies, simulation, analysis and selection
  • Experience in creating power solutions at 10’s kW scale and higher
  • Hands-on experience in prototyping, testing and debugging
  • Thermal management solutions
  • DSP or embedded digital control of power converters
