As a Technical Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of financial data, assisting in the preparation of financial statements, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. You will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks with a focus on technical areas such as debt compliance, equity accounting, and leases.
Responsibilities
- General Ledger Management: Prepare and post journal entries, ensure accurate coding of transactions, and maintain thorough documentation.
- Month-End Close: Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations of accounts such as debt, equity and leases.
- Team Collaboration: Cross train in other areas of the close process and provide backup support as needed
- Technical Accounting: Support technical accounting areas, including research and application of accounting standards (e.g., ASC 470, ASC 842), goodwill and intangibles, and stock-based compensation.
- Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation of financial statements, variance analysis, and monthly reports for management and investors.
- Audit Preparation: Support external audits by preparing schedules, gathering required documentation, and responding to auditor requests.
- Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with internal controls and identify areas for improvement, streamlining financial processes and mitigating risks.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with the finance team to optimize accounting systems, automate processes, and enhance overall efficiency.
- Perform special, ad-hoc projects as requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of public accounting experience at a national accounting firm
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Proficiency in accounting software (NetSuite and FloQast) is a plus
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively across departments and with non-financial stakeholders.
Firstup expects the base salary for this role to be between $80,000-$95,000. The starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
