Location: Sir Wilfrid Laurier
Total Weekly Hours: 28.25 to 37.5 hours weekly
Schedule: Monday to Friday; shifts are scheduled between 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM time frame
Pay Rate (per Collective Agreement, includes wage grants):
- RECE: $27.72/hr
- Non-RECE: $25.18/hr

Who We’re Looking For- Experience: Minimum of 1-year experience working with children up to 12 years of age
- Education:
- Diploma in a field related to childcare such as Early Childhood Education
- Diploma in Child & Youth Worker, Child and Youth Care, OCT, Education Assistant, Social Worker, or Recreation & Leisure may also be considered.
- Certifications:
- Member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) is preferred but not required
- Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Up-to-date immunization for TB, Tetanus, and MMR
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations
- Skills: Knowledge of "How Does Learning Happen?" is a valuable asset.
- Characteristics:
- Willingness to work in an on-call capacity with flexible scheduling
- Availability to work a minimum of 3 days per week, Monday to Friday, within the 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM time frame.
- Flexibility to take on part-time or full-time schedules.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability to be assigned in multiple locations, with minimal supervision.
- Passion for diversity, equality, and inclusion advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:- Setting and achieving goals, planning, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate activities that promote children’s cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s How Does Learning Happen framework.
- Supervising children in your care at all times and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment.
- Organizing indoor and outdoor play areas, creating a welcoming space for all children.
- Conducting daily health checks, maintaining documentation, and addressing any concerns with the Centre Supervisor.
- Collaborating with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board faculty and maintaining positive, professional relationships.
