What Are We Looking For?
Skills Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Prior experience in the AU broking, banking, or mortgage industry with exposure to consumer credit is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills essential for assessing financial statements, credit risk, and asset valuations.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, cash flow analysis, and interpreting financial statements.
- In-depth understanding of commercial real estate markets, industry trends, and economic factors that impact credit risk.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey credit analysis findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Ability to meticulously review financial documents and assess credit risk factors.
- Familiarity with lending regulations and compliance requirements.
Nice to Have:
- Certificate IV in Finance & Mortgage Brokering.
What Will You Do?
As a Commercial Credit Analyst, you will:
- Review and analyze the creditworthiness of commercial borrowers and their associated assets, such as commercial properties or business assets. This includes evaluating financial statements, cash flow projections, credit reports, and other relevant documents.
- Assess the risk associated with commercial mortgage loan applications by analyzing borrowers' financial stability, repayment capacity, and the quality and value of underlying collateral.
- Conduct thorough assessments of collateral (commercial real estate, equipment, or other assets) to determine value and marketability through property appraisals, site visits, and environmental assessments.
- Analyze financial statements of borrowers’ businesses, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to evaluate cash flow generation capabilities.
- Evaluate economic and industry-specific factors that may impact borrowers' repayment abilities by assessing market trends and competitive dynamics.
- Collaborate with loan officers and underwriters to structure loan terms and conditions that align with borrower needs while effectively managing credit risk.
- Ensure all lending decisions and documentation comply with federal, state, and local regulations governing commercial real estate lending.
- Communicate credit decisions, loan terms, and conditions to borrowers and other stakeholders, providing recommendations for improving creditworthiness when necessary.
- Recommend risk mitigation strategies, such as personal guarantees, adjusted interest rates, or modified loan covenants, to offset credit risk.
- Stay informed about commercial real estate market conditions, economic trends, and industry developments to enhance credit decisions and risk assessments.
- Keep up to date with changes in commercial lending regulations, credit analysis techniques, and best practices in the field.
