STEM Learning are looking for an Enrichment Programme Manager to lead a strategic approach to ‘scaling up’ employer and partner engagement through student facing enrichment programmes which will improve the life opportunities for thousands of young people, with a strong focus on support which addresses the specific needs of those young people who need it the most.

STEM Learning’s vision is to improve lives through STEM education. We are dedicated to improving young people’s lives through the power of STEM and believe great STEM education builds knowledge and skills that are vital for everyone.
To achieve this, we provide a range of support to formal and informal education, including subject-specific professional development for teachers and other educators, quality assured resources, support for STEM Clubs, and student-facing experiences.
We lead the STEM Ambassadors programme, which enables 28,000 individuals from more than 5,000 employers to share their enthusiasm and expertise with young people and teachers throughout the UK via classroom activities, career talks, etc.
The Role
The Enrichment Programme Manager will be accountable for the strategy and operational management of STEM Learning’s enrichment and student engagement activity. This is a key and growing division of STEM Learning and we have big plans to reach more young people.
The successful candidate will oversee an evolving set of high-impact enrichment and student facing activities which have a demonstrable impact on the STEM skills, aspiration or attainment of young people.
To achieve our bold vision, there is need to identify and take the lead in diversification of funding streams, sourcing new opportunities to scale our delivery.
To achieve STEM Learning’s vision, key deliverables for this role will include:
- Strategic and operational management of STEM Learning’s student engagement and enrichment programmes expanding current levels of funds to support those young people with the greatest need to develop their STEM skills, aspirations and attainment and to build professional networks of support to help them thrive.
- Providing high quality leadership across all STEM programmes, working with appropriate colleagues (both internal and external) to ensure that activities achieve appropriate targets – particularly in terms of impact, quality, Value for Money and agreed timelines.
- Accountability for income generation and financial management across a multi-million pound portfolio.
- Being responsive and proactive in identifying risks and opportunities, working with colleagues and partners to agree appropriate mitigating actions.
- Ensuring that all STEM support programmes operate effectively and efficiently, working collaboratively, sharing best practice and ensuring maximum coverage.
- Having overarching accountability for the engagement of schools, colleges, teachers and other educators with STEM-specific CPD and associated programmes in order to improve outcomes for young people, teachers/support staff and schools/colleges.
- Ensuring that all teachers, support staff, schools and colleges are aware of, and able to benefit from, appropriate, effective and high-quality professional development, resources and careers support, including that provided in various ways (and via various funding streams) through:
- STEM Clubs and STEM Camp summer schools
- ESERO-UK
- Competitions, events, and other engagement activity
- Placement and mentoring programmes
- All other relevant enrichment programmes as part of the STEM Learning portfolio of support
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in programme delivery, relationship management, and scaling educational initiatives to contribute to the organisation's mission of fostering STEM skills development through inspiring student facing programmes.
We’re looking for someone with a background of leading a team to success including setting strategies and meeting operational targets. You will have strong commercial acumen and substantial experience of working collaboratively to achieve success.
Ideally you will be an active player working across industry led education outreach, working to tackle the skills and education challenges through employee volunteering and education outreach programmes.
You’ll lean in to the challenge of driving income generation, seeking partnerships and sourcing funding that enable our enrichment division to thrive.
You'll be the type of person who has an innate desire for continuous improvement and innovation, seeking out opportunities to grow, develop and refine our programmes.
You will be data driven and adept at creating a compelling narrative for engagement with STEM Learning.
You'll see the bigger picture and relish operating at pace to translate strategies into operational plans and tangible outcomes for young people whilst addressing the issues that businesses are facing in developing a talent pipeline.
You’ll have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, able to influence positively across all levels both internally and externally, while engaging with and managing stakeholder relationships.

Location
Hybrid – Home based or York office (regular attendance in York office required)
The role holder will be required to undertake UK travel and occasional overnight stays. Flexibility of working hours will be required to meet the demands of the role at key times.
