ENTRY LEVEL POSITION
To support customer quality assurance requirements by proofreading updated and electronically converted Military Technical Documents to ensure:
a) Source data changes are incorporated properly.
b) Document configuration and layout (Style and Format) follows applicable Military Standards.
c) Text and graphics from electronically converted documents are correct and properly placed in accordance with the original document
FUNCTION
The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring verbatim compliance with document edits and checklists to meet customer requirements. The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for proofreading hardcopy and electronic documents and validating the correct incorporation of data inputs into the respective documents to include verification of all technical illustrations. Additionally, may be responsible for verifying and editing to ensure document technical compliance. Ensures and validates all corrections are made to documents and the final product is acceptable for delivery preparation to the customer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Requires a very detail oriented individual. Individuals will be provided on the job training.
· Proofreading
· Quality control product audit
· Document inspection
· Document editing
· Deliver and ensure accuracy and timeliness
· Ensure timely and accurate data entry into all applicable document management systems
· Ensure documentation for filing, recording, scanning and archiving documents is properly prepared and processed.
· Identify and facilitate the implementation of process improvements
· Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Word processing software to include Microsoft Word. Knowledge of continuous process improvement, best practices, knowledge of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
Knowledge of computer systems and the electronic working environment.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Systems preferred.
Demonstrable written and oral communication skills; focus on details; organization skills; strong root cause analyses and problem solving skills
Have the ability to work productively with others in a team environment; ability to review interactive/multimedia technical manuals for accuracy and content including technical data and technical accuracy; translate military technical data; match paper technical publications to interactive technical publications; perform software functionality testing; ability to inspect problems from multiple perspectives; ability to utilize step by step logic.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Prior familiarity with United States Department of Defense Technical Orders or Technical Publications, preferred
Prior editorial or proofreading experience
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
EDUCATION REQUIRED
High School Diploma or Equivalent
College English or Journalism Degree Preferred
