DMP Artist (VFX)

We are seeking a talented and experienced Concept/Digital Matte Painting (DMP) Artist to join our VFX pipeline. The ideal candidate will have a strong artistic background, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to create stunning concept art and digital matte paintings that enhance the visual storytelling of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Concept Art Creation: Develop high-quality concept art for environments, characters, and props that align with the creative vision of the project.
• Matte Painting: Create detailed and photorealistic digital matte paintings for use in VFX shots, integrating seamlessly with live-action footage and CGI elements.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Art Director, VFX Supervisor, and other departments to ensure that concepts and matte paintings meet the creative and technical standards of the project.
• Research and Reference: Conduct research and gather references to inform the creation of realistic and believable environments and assets.
• Technical Integration: Ensure that digital matte paintings are optimized for integration into the pipeline, including working with compositors to achieve the final look.
• Problem Solving: Address technical challenges related to matte painting and concept art, providing solutions that adhere to project timelines and quality standards.
• Quality Control: Review and ensure the quality of artwork produced, maintaining a high standard of work throughout the production process.
• Documentation: Maintain documentation for concept and matte painting processes to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing within the team.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in concept art and digital matte painting for VFX, with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of high-quality work.
• Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in industry-standard software such as Photoshop, Maya, Nuke, and other relevant tools.
• Artistic Skills: Strong artistic skills with a solid understanding of composition, color, lighting, and perspective.
• Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of VFX pipelines and workflows, including experience with integrating matte paintings into live-action and CGI shots.
• Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce highly realistic and visually compelling artwork.
• Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and timelines while maintaining a high standard of work.

• Creativity: A creative mindset with the ability to contribute to the overall visual direction of the project.
• Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address technical and creative challenges efficiently.
