At Doist, our mission is to empower people with simple yet powerful tools.

We're a multidisciplinary, fully-remote, team that’s passionate about creating products, like Todoist and Twist, that improve people’s lives. We thrive on innovating new solutions to old productivity challenges and we seek to rethink how productivity tools are made.

Our Core Values

They are few, but they are mighty. From creating processes to decision-making and recruiting, we build our four core values into nearly every single thing we do.

  • Ambition. You aspire to put a dent in the universe. You set high standards for yourself and those around you. You solve issues that have a high impact on our customers and our company.
  • Mastery. You care deeply about the quality of your work. You’re continuously learning and pushing yourself to the limits of your ability. As a champion of your craft, you are also a champion of your well-being – you work intensely, then disconnect completely.
  • Independence. Others can trust that you’ll deliver on time. You keep your word and trust your teammates to do the same. You are proactive, take ownership, and remain accountable with little or no direction.
  • Communication. Your communication is clear, concise, and engaging. You keep others in the loop and never go radio silent. You speak respectfully and foster warm relationships through your interactions. You’re culturally and socially aware and can appropriately navigate social situations.

We invite you to visit our blog to learn more about us, our values, and how we work.

Your Role

As Creative Lead at Doist, you'll be at the intersection of artistry and strategy, shaping the visual identity primarily of Todoist, but also Doist and Twist. This role demands both a bird's-eye view for brand evolution and a hands-on approach to creative execution. You'll lead a small but mighty brand design team while collaborating across departments to ensure our visual communication is as powerful and effective as our products.

If you thrive on balancing creative vision with data-driven decisions – and you're excited by the challenge of elevating an already beloved brand within resource constraints – we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft and evolve our visual brand identity, developing systems that ensure consistency across all touchpoints.
  • Lead and mentor the brand design team, which currently consists of a graphic designer and a motion designer.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create impactful campaign assets that align with our business goals and brand identity.
  • Drive innovation in our visual communication while maintaining brand coherence.
  • Manage relationships with in-house talent and freelancers to expand our creative capabilities.
  • Leverage data and user insights to continuously refine and improve our design solutions.
  • Oversee design projects with clear communication and efficient project management.

Our Process

Not sure the role is a good fit for you? That's okay! We'd still be happy to consider you. Here's what the process looks like:

  1. Submit your complete application by September 9th at 1:00PM UTC. This includes a resume (or manually entered experience) and thoughtful responses to all the application questions. No cover letter needed!
  2. Application screening. We read every application to understand your motivation, skills, and experience. Once your application has been reviewed, you'll receive a response regarding the status of your application.
  3. Value-alignment interview with Ana F. (Head of Design).
  4. Take-home test project. This will be your opportunity to showcase your role-specific skills.
  5. Role-alignment interview with Anaïs M. (Brand Designer).
  6. Culture-contribution interview Brenna L. (CMO).

Requirements

About You

To excel in this role, you are someone who is:

  • A visual storyteller with a keen eye for design details and a portfolio that showcases your ability to craft compelling brand identities.
  • Experienced in leading design projects or teams, even if your previous title didn't include "Senior" or "Lead".
  • Adept at balancing creative thinking with analytical decision-making.
  • Self-motivated and thrives in a remote work environment.
  • Resourceful and excited by the challenge of creating high-impact work within budget constraints.
  • A natural collaborator who can build strong relationships across departments.
  • Committed to continuous learning and staying at the forefront of design trends and technologies.
  • Passionate about Doist's mission to empower people with simple yet powerful tools.

You should have:

  • Proven experience in a senior-level brand, marketing, or visual design role.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating your skills in various marketing channels and brand identity development.
  • Experience in measuring and improving design performance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both visual and written.

It’d be amazing if you had:

  • Skills in illustration and animation.
  • Experience with user research and conducting interviews.
  • Content Creation and Video Production.
