SAFETY PROFESSIONAL FOR HEAVY CIVIL CONSTRUCTION RALEIGH, NC AREA
Searching for an experienced, professional, dedicated Safety Manager for Raleigh, NC, and surrounding Areas. Experience level from mid-level 5+ years of experience in the heavy civil site. If you have HHY, Paving , Drilling, and Blasting Safety expertise, that would be a PLUS!! Safety Professionals need to be able to work in various weather conditions and potentially rugged terrain, and the potential to travel may be required. Federal, DOT experience in heavy highway, bridge and or infrastructure safety project experience is preferred. Must be open to project travel and PM shifts as needed.
As a safety professional, you must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards, discover opportunities for improving conditions, and execute various safety programs. A strong ability to communicate safety guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential. Safety Professionals ensure the workplace meets all legal expectations and actively supports company, OSHA and project guidelines and specifications. The ability to travel from project to project and possible long-term travel may be required.

General Job Duties of a Safety Professional:
- Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to company, project and legal guidelines
- Provide safety training for employees on policies, regulations, and procedures
- Assist in new employee training for company safety policy and ongoing company safety programs and training
- Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
- Monitor compliance to policies and laws
- Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines
- Analyze incident reports, metrics, and injury case studies to institute changes that lead to a safer environment
- Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claims
- Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow-up assessments
- Plans, implements and conducts preventative care, safety, and compliance training programs
- Provides project management team with guidance on health and safety and confirms project site fulfills industry, local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations
- Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for project site injury and incident notification, investigation, and case management. Maintains a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence
- Guarantees that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, internal policies and procedures, contract documents, and good engineering practices
- Other duties as signed per project, position, and company
Job Skills & Qualifications/Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, Engineering, or related discipline preferred but not required
- Minimum 4 year of heavy civil safety experience Required
- Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, OSHA, and 30-hour Construction Safety Required
- OSHA 510 and OSHA 500
- Preference to have blasting, drilling and other HHY experience
- Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
- Strong ability in producing reports and developing relevant safety policies
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of data analysis and risk assessment
- Excellent organizational and motivational skills
- Strong outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work independently when needed but a strong desire to work in a team environment
- Valid qualification in occupational health and safety
- Strong Conflict management and problem-solving skills
- Excellent Leadership ability
- Excellent written and verbal communication, meeting, and presentation skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform essential job functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
- Ability to work in potentially rugged environments and in varied weather conditions
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on the telephone
