Enterprise Architect

We currently have a vacancy for an Enterprise Architect fluent in English, to offer his/her services as an expert who will be based in Ispra, Italy. The work will be carried out on the company’s premises or on-site at customer premises. In the context of the first assignment, the successful candidate will be integrated into the Development team of the company that will closely cooperate with a major client’s IT team on site.

Your tasks

• Review the existing architecture and proposals for a new/adapted architecture of the meteorological infrastructure;
• Integrate and align new ways of processing large weather datasets with the project’s strategies to improve forecast lead time and enhance crop yield forecast quality;
• Design and develop software tools to enhance and enlarge capabilities to include and analyze long-range weather forecasts in ensemble mode, on high-performance clusters, in a cloud environment, or on other appropriate means;
• Analyse design and implementation of the toolbox for processing seasonal weather forecasts, propose and implement new functionalities in close exchange with scientists and contractors;
• Test the effectiveness and efficiency, performance, and robustness of the QC software in place and under development;
• Support the design and development of a new infrastructure for automated production including analysis, display, and publication;
• Analyse new functionalities and workflows for the System as well as proposals for the design of implementing them.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in IT or relevant discipline, combined with a minimum of 15 years of relevant working experience in IT;
• At least 5 years of experience in system and software architecture and design as well as OOP, UML, Python, and .NET (C#);
• Very good knowledge in handling and processing large datasets, efficient implementation, and thorough testing as well as object-oriented analysis and design, Agile development, design patterns, and domain-driven design;
• Very good knowledge and experience in working with ASP.NET (C#, Blazor), Java, JavaScript, and R;
• Good knowledge of performance analysis and optimization, including parallelization with MPI;
• Good knowledge of Oracle DB, MS SQL Server, SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle Application Server;
• Excellent command of the English language.
