BEV Propulsion System Chief Engineer Assistant

Job Description:

  • Responsible for new BEV propulsion system within assigned vehicle applications: lead all technical aspects to achieve system requirements and functional targets, including NVH, efficiency, performance and durability.
  • Accountable for the BEV system performance across the battery, electric drive machine, and power electronics sub systems.
  • Single point contact for all propulsion system engineering activities for assigned vehicle applications.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Assist the chief engineer to define and ensure BEV propulsion system global technical functional objective targets (Performance, Fuel Economy, NVH, Mass, DMC) are established and met while complying with regulatory requirements, vehicle packaging and manufacturing constraints.
  • Lead telediagnostics vehicle fleet, assuring installation, data analysis, and corrective actions are made across the hardware, calibration and control metafunctions. Generate reports using highly technical big data analytics gathered from real time and event-based fleet diagnostics.
  • Lead comprehensive issue management across the BEV propulsion system. Drive root cause identification thru initial hands-on triage, and corrective actions, assuring participation from the subsystem. Generation of reports to show emerging issues of focus across each subsystem.
  • Ensure maximum achievable commonality, best practices, and lessons learned are applied across all applications within the BEV family.
  • Ensure product readiness to support approved launches defining appropriate timing milestones for the given project and leading the PET/technical table meetings.
  • Promote intellectual property development (patents, NDAs, EBPs, etc.) as a result of product innovation.
  • Manage R&D expenses and total production cost targets through identifying all possible efficiencies vs. approved business case
  • Manage Product lifecycle, including Quality Improvement activities.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's in engineering preferred in this order, Electrical, controls, computer, mechanical.
  • Functional experience in propulsion component mechanical design, controls development, calibration development, CAE, or vehicle engineering/integration.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Preferred graduate work in engineering.
  • Preferred functional experience in battery electric vehicles (motor/invertor, battery/BMS, power electronics, thermal systems, or vehicle dynamics).

Additional Must Haves:
  • Electric vehicle knowledge
  • Systems Engineering mindset to accept responsibility to resolve outside a defined perimeter
  • Work well in both a team and individual environment
  • Electrical Engineering Bachelor Degree, but preferred in this order: Electrical, controls, computer, mechanical
