Salary: $58,170.11-$82,025.22/Annually *Salary includes Recruitment & Retention Stipend

Primary responsibilities include:  

  • Perform Electrical inspections in various areas around the state.
  • Manage 5 field inspectors while fostering a close team environment.
  • Consistently provide education to electricians, homeowners and especially their team.
  • Respond to code questions as well as complaints.
  • Make code interpretations and be willing & able to stand behind those interpretations.
  • Write inspection reports and complaints and help develop Board rules.
  • Testify before the Electricians Examining Board and possibly legislative committees and or court proceedings.
  • Prepare weekly reports on the team’s work.

Skills or knowledge required:

  • Proven experience in personnel and time management.
  • Advanced knowledge of requirements within the NEC
  • Knowledge of the laws governing the Electricians Examining Board
  • Knowledge of the rules adopted by the Electricians Examining Board
  • The ability to deal with difficult people and to diffuse / deescalate difficult situations.
  • The ability to work with multiple computer applications.
  • The ability to utilize clear and concise oral as well as written communication.
  • The ability to work with limited direct supervision, and to supervise others who also work with limited supervision, both while maintaining extremely high levels of ethics and service to the public.

Minimum qualifications:

Ten (10) years experience in the electrician field.

LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).

Possession of a current and valid Maine Master Electrician License.

Preference will be given to those applicants:

  • Experience or licensure in other related trades such as HVAC or plumbing.
  • State, municipal or private electrical inspection experience.
  • Experience with large PV installations.
  • Experience with fire investigations.
