Founded in 1996 by 100 Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) women, NAPAWF (National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum) is the only organization dedicated to empowering AANHPI women and girls to impact policy and drive systemic change in the U.S.
Employing a reproductive justice framework, we use organizing, advocacy, and communications strategies to assert full agency over our lives, our families, and our communities. The organization also stands in solidarity with other women of color facing oppression and marginalization.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Director of Communications at NAPAWF will be responsible for leading and supervising the communications team, driving the development and execution of internal and external communications strategy, and positioning the organization as a leader in the movement. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, the ability to develop and implement innovative communications initiatives, and a commitment to advancing social justice issues. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of developing and executing successful communications strategies, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization and with external partners.

This position can work remotely in one of the following states: IL, FL, NY, CO, GA, PA, MN, TX, CA, DC.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Communication & Narrative Strategy Development
- Oversee and drive the development and execution of internal and external communications and narrative strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
- Develop comprehensive strategies to engage diverse audiences and amplify the organization's impact.
- Shape and promote consistent, mission-driven narratives across all communication channels, ensuring alignment with organizational values and goals to influence public perception and policy discussions.
- Develop compelling storytelling frameworks and key messages that reflect the organization's work, values, and impact, tailored to various audiences and platforms.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to advance communication objectives and organizational goals.
Strategic Communications and Digital Organizing
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communications initiatives, and adjust strategies and tactics as needed to achieve organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with leadership to position the organization as a communications leader in the movement.
- Advocate for the organization's mission and goals through strategic communication and research initiatives.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of integrated strategic communications plans to advance the mission and brand of the organization, broaden awareness, and increase visibility.
- Lead digital engagement initiatives to mobilize and activate online communities, leveraging digital platforms and tools to increase organizational reach and drive action.
- Oversee the creation and dissemination of digital content, ensuring it resonates with target demographics, enhances online visibility, and aligns with the broader communications strategy.
- Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels.
- Understand shifts in the social media landscape.
- Understand the differences between narrative and strategic communications.
Leadership and Team Management
- Lead and mentor the communications team, clearly defining roles and responsibilities. Implement training programs and professional development opportunities to maximize individual and team performance, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Provide strategic leadership in strengthening internal communications across the team and other departments. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages open dialogue and teamwork.
- Design and implement effective team processes, including goal-setting, task allocation, and performance evaluation, to enhance productivity and effectiveness.
- Organize and lead team-building activities that promote cohesion, collaboration, and a positive work culture.
- Conduct regular team meetings to promote communication, address challenges, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives and priorities.
- Manage the utilization and scheduling of workflow, project management tools, and stakeholder management systems. Ensure efficient and effective execution of communication projects and initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in communications, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful internal and external communications strategies.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop team members.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement innovative communications initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of an organization and with external partners.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Ability to travel for meetings/events up to 25% per year.
SALARY & BENEFITS
The annual salary range for this position is $105,600-150,000 - salary commensurate with experience.
A highly competitive benefits package includes a 401(k) plan, medical, dental, and vision insurance. NAPAWF's medical plan is covered by NAPAWF at 100% for employees and dependents with no out of pocket costs, including prescription drugs costs. Qualified dependents may also be covered.
NAPAWF also offers full-time employees 15 days of vacation in the first year, sick leave, flexible spending program options and personal/family leave, as well as paid vacation between December 25 and January 1 of each year.
