Transylvania University (www.transy.edu), a top-tier, independent, residential liberal arts college of 1,000 students in Lexington, Kentucky, invites applications for the on-campus position of Education Certification Specialist. This is a 10-month position (working approximately mid-August through mid-June each year) at 37.5 hours per week.
The Education Certification Specialist, Title II Coordinator, and Accreditation Data Manager manages, tracks and reports all education program data and documentation related to teacher certification, accreditation, Title II management, and other program business. This includes communication and collaboration with Kentucky’s Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) and other state agencies; Fayette County Public School personnel, including K-12 teachers for clinical experiences; education program faculty and students; the Teacher Education Advisory Board; and the Transylvania community.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree (minimum); Master’s Degree (preferred). One (1) year of experience in an education-related position or environment. Experience with teacher candidate data collection, analysis and reporting is strongly preferred.
Specific skills:
The ideal candidate must be able to use Google Suite/Workspace and other platforms related to teacher education and certification, especially data management systems (e.g. Kentucky Field Experiences Tracking System, Taskstream, EPSB program review system, etc.) They will have excellent planning, prioritizing, implementing, and evaluating skills as well as comprehensive and effective verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will be able to manage multiple projects with attention to detail; solve problems independently and collaboratively; maintain confidentiality and use discretion. They should also be prepared to effectively and positively represent Transylvania University to public schools.
