Gowan Milling Yuma is looking for a driver. The ideal candidate will be very proactive in all aspects, possess strong computer skills and basic math proficiency to accurately handle inventory and shipping records. Organization and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment are crucial, as this role involves adhering to both oral and written instructions. Candidates should be prepared to work extended hours and potential overtime as needed. Physical strength is essential, as the position requires lifting and moving goods. Attention to detail, time management skills, and a commitment to maintaining safety protocols are also key components of this role. The position reports to the Logistics Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Verification and Documentation: Keep detailed records of incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment by comparing identifying information and performing counts, weights, or measurements against bills of lading, invoices, orders, and packing slips.
- Inspection and Issue Resolution: Unload and inspect incoming shipments, rejecting damaged items, recording shortages, and communicating with shippers to resolve discrepancies.
- Inventory Management: Maintain an organized inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
- Equipment Operation: Operate forklifts to move, convey, or hoist shipments from the shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or designated work areas.
- Regulatory Compliance: Understand and adhere to Dangerous Goods shipping regulations (DOT Certification)
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Forklift Certification.
- Active Driver’s License.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
