As an Engineering Manager at Betsson Group, your primary responsibilities will be geared towards building and leading high-performing engineering teams, meaning a lot of your focus will be on our most important asset – our people! You will work closely with your product and design counterparts on the planning and scoping of the product development roadmap, where you will be accountable for the engineering teams’ delivery. You will also be expected to take ownership and responsibility for the technical stability and performance of the applications under the tutelage of your teams.
A taster of what you will be involved with:
- Build and lead high-performing engineering teams.
- Ensure the engineering teams are properly structured, staffed, and possess the right roles and skills.
- Drive excellence in engineer recruitment, onboarding and career development.
- Foster an engineering culture of ownership, collaboration, and passion for delivering quality products.
- Be an active part of the cross-functional leadership team for the area.
- Collaborate with other engineering leaders across the organisation to share best practices.
- Accountable for the engineering teams’ delivery in terms of both time and quality.
- Work closely with your product counterpart(s) and provide a high level of support for product activities.
- Define team performance metrics to monitor and report on team productivity and individual Team Leads and Engineers performance.
- Drive the continuous optimisation and improvement of team and development processes.
- Take ownership for resolving situations hindering the performance of the teams. Be able to deep dive into solutions, when necessary, track and follow up external dependencies.
- Advocate and advance modern agile software development practices.
- Step into any missing role as and when may be required.
You are good with:
- Understanding of .NET technology stack and hosting applications both on premises and in cloud, CI/CD and monitoring, messaging within a micro service architecture, automated QA.
- Through collaboration with your architecture and product counterparts, ensure the engineering teams are aware of any strategies, standards and business goals they are expected to follow.
- Making sure priorities are clear and followed.
- Nurturing product knowledge gain, sharing, and documentation standards.
- Nurturing teamwork and collaboration within the domain and with other teams.
- Make sure teams are taking part in building product backlog with clear value for technical initiatives, feature suggestions, improvements, automations etc.
- Driving ownership and awareness of system health, performance and stability.
- Champion technical initiatives for consideration in the product development roadmap.
- Establish a strategy to identify and manage technical debt.
- Ensuring highly effective software development with built-in quality assurance, support and maintenance processes are in place.
- Ensuring SLAs are defined and being actively monitored and followed
You have experience in:
- Mandatory Hands-on experience in software development, ideally in gaming industry, CRM, payments or similar transactional, highly loaded systems.
- Planning and leading the delivery of product and technical initiatives. Documenting solution designs, agreeing and following up on dependencies.
- Managing engineering teams in terms of employment, professional development, performance evaluation and policies.
- Being responsible and accountable for 2+ engineering teams and directly manage Team Leads.
- Recruitment and hiring of Team Leads and Engineers
