Senior Closures Engineer - Sealing

This pivotal role will operate in a hybrid capacity out of one of our offices near Warwick or Bicester where the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most visionary minds in the automotive field.

The Opportunity:

In this role, you'll take ownership of relevant sections within the sealing systems, utilizing advanced 3D modeling techniques to develop and refine components. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, managing the interface between engineering and styling to ensure seamless integration of sealing components into the overall vehicle design.

What you’ll do:

• Ownership of relevant sections.
• 3D package modelling.
• Manage interface with styling.
• Engineering responsibility (including design and release) of full vehicle body systems: Sealing.
• Design for manufacture and assembly for responsible components.
• Ensuring responsible designs meet legal compliance.
• Work Package Management.
• Design Sizing Analysis: Sub system loads, Joints and interfaces, Materials selection, Bolt calculations.
• Assembly level simulation.
• Cost, timing and mass & attribute management and Balancing – QCD – Quality, Cost, Delivery.
• Supplier Management.
• Sealing Design Guides & Standards.

Miscellaneous:

• Identify and highlight any areas for continuous improvement.
• Ensure that your technical knowledge and expertise is kept up to date.
• Mentor and support professional development of all colleagues, particularly junior staff.
• To perform any other duties that may well be reasonably expected within the remit of the role.
• To ensure compliance with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policy requirements within areas of responsibility.

Who you are:

• Extensive experience in closure engineering, with a focus on sealing systems.
• Proficiency in 3D modelling software and engineering analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture and Assembly principles.
• Knowledge of legal compliance requirements related to vehicle design and sealing.
• Proven ability to manage work packages and drive projects to completion.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
• Experience in supplier management and cost management practices.
