The Center for Family and Child Enrichment (CFCE) is dedicated to help children and their families by providing the right services and solutions based on individual needs. CFCE is constantly evolving to better support our community. CFCE expanded in early 2012 to include a health care center, The Pediatric & Family Health and Wellness Center.
The Pediatric & Family Health and Wellness Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), offers an array of preventative health services including but not limited to: general and sick care for adults and children, OB/GYN, dental services, nutrition programs and mental health and substance abuse treatment for children and adults.
As a Medical Assistant, you will serve as the liaison between the multidisciplinary healthcare team, patient, and their families.

Some of the Functions Include:
- Take and record the patient’s vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and temperature.
- Take and record weight, height, vision and hearing
- Administer medication as prescribed by the physician to patients and monitor the patient’s response to the medication
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections.
- Laboratory work to including taking lab samples from patients such as blood and urine samples, urinalysis, strep test, and others.
- Evaluate the needs of the patient and develop a plan (i.e. fever/wheezing/rash requiring more urgent MD assessment).
- Report to the physician any adverse changes noted in patient health due to administered medication.
- Record patient’s past medical history into the electronic medical record program.
- Prepare and give injections, vaccines and medications (such as Rocephin, Depo Provera and others).
- Maintain exam rooms and equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
- Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; helping them to position themselves for the examination and/or treatment; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
- Front Office duties including answering phones, scheduling appointments, assisting with referrals and insurance eligibility.
Minimum Education
- High school diploma; some college preferred
- Medical assistant certification
Minimum Experience
- Must have both Pediatrics and adult experience
- At least one (1) year experience as a medical assistant
Skills Needed
- Must have knowledge of:
- Healthcare field and medical specialty
- Medical terminology
- Grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Knowledge of Electronic Health Records systems
