WHY BOX NEEDS YOU
Box is looking for an experienced Employment Counsel who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a broad range of responsibilities. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join Box as its third employment attorney supporting a global workforce and the first specifically for EMEA. This role will report into the Senior Team Director, Global Employment Law and Employee Relations with a dotted line to the Director of Legal, EMEA and will join a talented and collaborative legal team responsible for providing legal advice and guidance on a wide range of employment matters in a fast-paced environment. This position will have an exciting opportunity to partner with Box’s EMEA People Partner team and POps team in providing guidance on day-to-day management of employees, employee disputes, internal investigations and policy review and creation. Box’s Legal Department is geographically dispersed, and this position will be located in the UK.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Provide strategic advice and counsel to the EMEA People Partner team on a broad range of employment issues, including recruitment, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations, benefits, complex leaves of absence and accommodations issues, compensation, contingent workers, HR policies and practices, and performance management, among others;
Provide pragmatic advice to the business on employment obligations across EMEA jurisdictions in which Box has offices (currently in the UK, France, Germany, Netherlands and Poland);
In coordination with the People Partner team, assist with the creation of policies, standards and business procedures designed to foster compliance with various employment laws and regulations (including health and safety compliance);
Draft and review various types of employment agreements, policies, work rules, etc.;
Manage pre-litigation and litigation disputes and devise creative resolution strategies with the assistance of outside counsel, as needed;
Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders, other members of the Legal team, the People Partner team and with external counsel;
Stay up to date, and advise as needed, on legal developments across EMEA;
Lead and/or assist with other projects as business needs arise.
WHO YOU ARE
Fully qualified lawyer in a relevant European jurisdiction with 5 + years of relevant experience;
Experience advising on employment law matters across multiple EMEA jurisdictions and a desire to develop and expand expertise. Specialist knowledge and experience of Employment Law in either UK and/or Poland (and any experience or knowledge of Employment Law in France, Germany or Netherlands would be an advantage).
Ability to closely collaborate with the EMEA People Partner team to assist with day to day legal issues and ER advice;
Experience with employee-related privacy/GDPR matters;
Highly responsive, flexible, collaborative and service-oriented attitude;
Ability to independently determine and develop solutions to complex legal issues that are practical, clearly and timely communicated, and consistent with business objectives;
Detail-oriented and ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously;
Ability to draft country-specific employment policies and oversee implementation to ensure consistency where appropriate;
Ability to influence and provide timely and effective legal and business advice, support and training at all organizational levels;
Ability to manage or coordinate the work of others, including external counsel and working groups or project teams;
Strong analytical and organizational skills;
Good business judgement and sound decision-making.
