Tutor Intelligence is seeking a mechanical engineer co-op to help us build the next generation of accessible and intelligent robot hardware. In this role, you will build robot grippers, enclosures, auxiliary actuated devices, and mounts/connections.
In this role, you will work on multiple projects with fairly high velocity. This is a position that optimizes for speed and creativity. We primarily design for rapid prototyping with extreme quick iteration cycles.
At Tutor, projects move fast and change frequently. It is unlikely you will work on a single one for more than a few weeks in a row. If you are someone nervous about being stuck on a boring project for a long period of time, fear not!
Some skills that we find are useful:
- Solidworks - This is the CAD software we use.
- 3D Printing. Have you built any? (Are you the kind of person who has one in their dorm room?) Can you maintain one? Optimize slicer settings? That kinda thing.
- Building electrical gizmos - Can you read a datasheet? Spec a sensor? Know where to stick a multimeter or oscilliscope?
- Pneumatics - This one is a bit rarer, but our end of arm tooling is typically pneumatic, so if you have experience with positive or vacuum air systems, that is a big bonus!
We are broadly looking for folks who have lots of experience build lots of stuff.
