The Role:
Burson is seeking to hire a strategic communications and public relations professional at the level of Vice President to lead large enterprise technology accounts. The ideal candidate will possess strong media relations and PR experience supporting reputation, issues management, executive visibility, thought leadership and awareness campaigns. The Vice President will be an expert at translating complex technology issues and product communications (Semiconductor, Cloud, AI, Cybersecurity, Data Privacy, etc.) into concise and well-written narratives relevant to geo-political challenges/opportunities.
The Vice President will work with cross-functional teams, private business, government, and inside-the-beltway technology media to identify for clients opportunities and risks to positively impact business development (both organic and net new).
The Work:
Act as client point of contact and internal team management, demonstrating expertise in current geo-political risks/opportunities, corporate affairs and policy issues impacting product communications, and issues around semiconductors, AI, cybersecurity, data privacy and cloud migration.
Leverage deep policy and media relations network in DC as well as with Top Tier National, Trade and Tech outlets.
Develop strategic communication narratives and messages inclusive of executive visibility, thought leadership, reputation. crisis and corporate positioning.
Play a significant role in driving new business, identifying opportunities, and contributing to RFP development.
Serve as a mentor and manager, providing guidance on client management and professional development.
Support and coach teams in building expertise and fostering ongoing learning.
Identify and address organizational challenges and emerging issues, devising and executing effective communications strategies.
Manage the daily operations of client accounts, including budgeting, planning, and staff development.
Qualifications and Experience:
12-14 years of experience in operational-level communications, either in PR agencies or enterprise tech in-house teams.
Exceptional leadership and team management skills with at least 2 years of leadership experience with demonstrable impact on clients, company, and teams.
In-depth knowledge of the technology sector with extensive corporate affairs industry knowledge ideally within B2B enterprise technology: artificial intelligence, data infrastructure, cloud, storage, cybersecurity, privacy and software development, etc.
Proven track record of building and maintaining strong client relationships coupled with new business development that is supported by a verifiable history of successfully securing and maintaining new clients.
Strong business development acumen with a history of contributing to new business growth. Ability to measure ROI in communications activities.
Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Ability to develop strategic insights forming the foundation of integrated client plans.
Demonstrated skill in proactively building relationships with top-tier reporters and editors, achieving high-impact media placements for public and private sector enterprise clients.
Experience in building, mentoring, and coaching a team of communications specialists.
