Duties:
Demonstrates clinical competence as a Dental Assistant.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Showing courtesy, respect, and positive attitude for patients, co-workers and the public.
2. Working well in a team environment by cooperating with and helping co-workers.
3. Providing assistance to customers with questions or concerns and providing service as necessary.
4. Setting up surgery suite for planned procedures and cleans dental unit for timely turnover.
5. Preparing medications and impression materials per manufacturer instructions.
6. Assisting in both routine and specialized dental procedures.
7. Maintaining specialty dental equipment per manufacturer instructions and dental service standards.
8. Exposing both standard and specialty dental imaging safely and within desired time frames.
9. Demonstrating proper infection control procedures.
10. Following all Standard Operating Procedures for Reusable Medical Equipment and preparing instruments for transfer to SPS for sterilization.
11. Assisting in filling gaps in the doctor's schedule due to late cancelations and failed appointments.
12. Assisting patients in scheduling appointments.
13. Following computer security regulations.
14. Monitoring patient vital signs and condition during invasive treatment and during recovery period.
15. Removing plaque and soft debris from removable prostheses.
16. Sterilization of instruments.
17. Performing other duties, as assigned.
Education:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
One (1) year of Dental experience.
Surgical Dental Assistant One (1) year of experience.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
A certificate of completion from an accredited dental assisting program.
