ABOUT THE ROLE
The Spiritual Life and Outreach Coordinator has two main functions, one internal and the other external. They ensure the achievement of strategic objectives in the spiritual nurture and guidance of Amazi Water staff, enabling them to grow in Christian maturity, discipleship, and outreach. This includes but is not limited to, offering intentional voluntary Bible studies, coordinating well-prepared Prayer and Praise Mondays, and organizing corporate prayers and fasting. The Spiritual Life and Outreach Coordinator will also administer the spiritual outreach by coordinating with denominations and local churches to show evangelistic films (Jesus, Jesus for Children, and Mary of Magdalen for Women), conducting pastoral prayer and meditation at drill sites, and delivering biblical messages at well’s dedications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Internally:
  • Coordinate the integration of Christian faith into all programs and projects of Amazi Water (AW), ensuring the spiritual nurture of AW staff.
  • Select or develop Bible study and discipleship materials and coordinate implementation with managers across all departments.
  • Lead the Spiritual Emphasis Committee in organizing well-prepared Monday Prayer and Praise sessions, as well as other corporate events and celebrations.
  • Establish and maintain a vibrant prayer chain among Amazi Water staff to pray for requests.
  • Provide regular reports on spiritual emphasis activities and staff growth.
  • Submit monthly reports to The Jesus Project on the number of Jesus film showings and first-time conversions, as well as quarterly impact stories to Amazi Water’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Build the capacity of AW staff on spiritual nurture across departments.
  • Support the HR department in orienting new staff to AW’s Christian identity and in capacity building to ensure staff bear witness to Jesus Christ in the community.
  • Provide spiritual support to staff during times of death, birth, illness, and injury, in coordination with HR.
Externally:
  • Develop and administer spiritual outreach programs in coordination with church denominational leaders, local church pastors, and Amazi Water Community Mobilizing Teams (CMT), including showing evangelistic films (Jesus, Jesus for Children, and Mary of Magdalen for Women).
  • Develop and manage church partnerships to provide volunteer support for outreach opportunities (e.g., WASH program training).
  • Ensure AW staff and community attendance at various spiritual outreach workshops and events whenever possible.
  • Collaborate with the Communications & Coordination Team to promote spiritual outreach events.
  • Schedule, track, clean, and service the six projector kits and films.
  • Coordinate with CMTs and Lead Drillers to invite local church pastors to pray and deliver short meditations at each drill site.
  • Schedule biblical messages by local pastors at all well’s dedications in coordination with CMT.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in theology, Social Sciences, Psychology, Development, or other Development related fields.
  • 5 years or more of relevant experience in ministry as a pastor, deacon, or denominational leader.
  • Be a mature follower of Jesus Christ who senses God's call to service and fulfills the qualifications of an elder/deacon as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. Demonstrates a lifestyle and family life that is consistent in word and practice with the teaching of Jesus Christ.
  • Ability to design and develop spiritual nurture materials.
  • Understand and embrace Amazi Water’s mission, vision, and core values, especially Reliance on Prayer.
  • Able to teach the Scriptures in a manner that leads others to Jesus and deeper in their walk with Him, with the possibility of preaching and the ability to design and develop spiritual nurture materials.
  • Excellent administrative, organizational, oral, and written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented and good administrator able to develop and coordinate Nationwide outreach.
  • Flexibility and proven ability to handle multiple tasks, deadline pressures, and complexities of managing remotely.
  • Proficiency in using project management software and communication tools.
  • Fluent written and spoken English is highly desired.

  • Preserve a humble, patient spirit and commitment to partner with denominations, pastors, ministry leaders, and Amazi Water staff.
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, and ability to work with a wide range of people from different backgrounds.
  • Cultural competence, particularly understanding and respecting the local context and communities in Burundi.

WORKING CONDITIONS & REPORTING STRUCTURE
  • Spiritual Life and Outreach Coordinator reports to the Operations Director.
  • Will regularly meet with the Operations Director, HR Manager, and Regional Managers to align and execute organizational priorities, goals, and strategies; and attend staff meetings.
  • Work is Bujumbura based. Regular travel around Burundi is required.
  • Expect to travel upcountry approximately 70% of the time, including overnight stays.
COMPENSATION
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, as well as health/dental/eye insurance, and vacation, circumstance/medical leave, annual pay increase, professional training & development benefits.
