Hill House Home is currently seeking a Senior Designer to support all categories, primarily focused on Women’s RTW and Childrenswear.
We are searching for a Senior Designer who can effectively lead a team to create inspiring designs and help drive the aesthetic of Hill House. The candidate should be a highly creative and forward-thinking fashion enthusiast with a strong understanding of design, fabric, and print. They should also have the ability to inspire others through their grasp of market trends and innovative perspectives.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Design + Develop Product Assortment
- Collaborate with the Design Director, CEO, and Merchandising Team to develop the total product assortment.
- Work closely with the Design Director and CEO to lead overall trend research and direction for each season.
- Leading seasonal fabric direction and designing into selected fabric assortment, considering fabric characteristics, cuttable width, and end-use intention.
- Interest in print development and supporting the Design Director in all print development. This is a strict requirement for the role.
- Lead design connectivity between fabric, print, and body.
- Focus on design elements that work within existing supply chain and margin goals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Become a trusted partner for Product Development, Tech Design, and Merchandising teams based on a keen understanding of the product.
- Lead your team in completing all technical sketches and CADs.
- Eagerness and willingness to launch new categories and lead research.
- Ability to lead seasonal milestone meetings to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
Hard Skills
- Willingness to create initial sketches and set up design tech packs.
- Ability to propose appropriate design details, including internal and external finishings, and soft and hard trims.
- Understanding of patterns.
- Oversee content and narrative development from concept to rollout.
ABOUT YOU
- Have the ability to recognize and accurately forecast fashion and cultural trends and to report on this information including trend direction, color, and fabric innovation.
- Strong technical knowledge of fabrications and construction.
- Excellent communication skills to communicate ideas and inspirations and interact with designers and merchandisers.
- Organizational skills necessary to manage multiple tasks and projects, and complete them within deadlines.
- Excellent hand sketching and CAD skills in Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Willingness to work in an online PLM platform and continue to iterate on process improvements.
- Comprehensive knowledge of apparel construction and a thorough understanding of manufacturing techniques and processes.
- Knowledge and ability to source fabrics, trims, labels, and other production goods.
- The ability to mentor junior and mid-level designers, fostering their skills and design perspectives.
- The ability to delegate and direct the daily activities of the designers, assistants, and associate designers and provide direction to the team.
- The ability to develop partnerships with Department heads.
- 8 -10 years in women’s design.
- Salary Range: $110-180k
