Position Overview:

R & D Industries, Inc. (RDI) is a 40-year-old Iowa technology company. Our RDIWorks® (RDIWorks.com) division is seeking a Sales Professional to join our MSP (managed service provider) team. As a regional leader, our RDIWorks team works across SMB and enterprise to be a trusted source of technology solutions.

Successful sales candidates in this role will have a proven track record in inside and outside sales, sales processes, CRM software, and KPI tracking. Those with strong skills in analysis, interpersonal communications, sales relationship building, upselling, and cross selling will thrive in this role. Experience in IT, computers, servers, networking, network security, SaaS, and MSP business strategies like MRR will be greatly beneficial.

This role will combine technical knowledge with sales skills to provide advice and support on a range of products and services to various vertical markets such as healthcare, SMB, enterprise, and manufacturing.

Technology Sales Professionals are a key point of contact for clients and provide pre-sales advice and project design. They work regularly with other members of the IT team as well as managers and our marketing department. Sales professionals will also regularly engage existing customers for technology lifecycle management, planning, and sales. Knowledge of frameworks like ITIL is beneficial, but not required.

Successful candidates will work with prospects and current clients to determine needs, understand the client’s objectives and design & present recommended solutions. We are looking for an experienced sales professional with broad knowledge of computers, networking, cloud services, servers, software, network security, and other relevant technologies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Regularly perform inside and outside sales activities, track those in our CRM, and maintain KPIs to measure our success
  • Work with our marketing team to coordinate sales activities with marketing campaigns
  • Regularly engage existing customers for technology lifecycle management, planning, and sales
  • Work to execute on our vision of growth in network security and recurring revenue
  • Execute outbound sales activities to new and existing customers
  • Coordinate with various parts of the business like our IT team (designing and implementing solutions) and our purchasing and logistics team to ensure products are available and margins are maintained
  • Work with prospects and current clients to determine needs, understand client objectives, and design/pitch recommended solutions
  • Develop long-term relationships with clients
  • Coordinate and present clients with project proposals for recommended products and services
  • Determine client technical specifications and coordinate with our IT team to do pre-sales engineering and validation
  • Provide pre-sales technical assistance and product education, and engage our IT team for post-sales support services
  • Developing strong working relationships with vendor partner sales and enablement teams
  • Coordinate with our IT team and customers before/during/after solutions are implemented
  • Support marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other marketing events
  • Be comfortable giving customer presentations in order to discuss solutions, technical details, and perform requirements elicitation
  • Attain and maintain certification status on various vendor products and services

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of expertise in professional B2B sales (or equivalent) experience with a proven track record
  • Be excited about selling technology solutions and helping businesses operate better
  • Willingness to learn technology aspects of hardware, software, and cloud sales
  • Experience with inside and outside sales activities
  • Experience with a CRM such as SalesForce/ConnectWise/ZoHo/Autotask
  • Ability to develop graphs and charts for business intelligence purposes (performance / customer benefit / efficiency)
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Be a great team player and assist teammates in order to achieve MSP goals
  • Be a detail oriented and analytical thinker with great listening skills
  • Demonstrate problem solving and project management skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technologies and products, independently using documentation, online resources, and vendor training resources.
