Salary range for this position is $30 - $38 per hour
Aspire Living & Learning is currently seeking a Music Teacher to work out of one of our Approved Private Special Education Programs (ALL Academy) in Stamford, Naugatuck, and/or Trumbull, CT, providing services to children who have been outplaced to our program due to social, behavioral, and/or academic needs.

The Music Teacher at Aspire Living & Learning plays a vital role in developing and providing specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with autism spectrum disorders, pervasive developmental disabilities, and a variety of other disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibit a thorough understanding and application of music standards and curriculum.
- Implement the school's music curriculum in alignment with its mission.
- Utilize diverse musical repertoire to provide learning opportunities that allow students to intellectually and emotionally analyze and evaluate artistic expression.
- Continuously assess student progress in music, adjusting instructional methods to meet individual needs.
- Offer individualized and small-group instruction based on appropriateness and effectiveness.
- Apply various teaching techniques, methods, and learning principles to foster student appreciation and mastery of musical skills.
- Create a positive and personalized learning environment.
- Select, order, and maintain music supplies and instruments, ensuring proper inventory records and equipment functionality.
- Review and apply modifications, accommodations, and intervention plans to support student needs. Cultivate a positive and productive workplace atmosphere to enhance team morale and productivity.
- Participate in and complete training sessions as delegated by management to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
- Conduct training as required and assigned.
- Perform any additional job responsibilities assigned by supervisors or team leaders to support the organization's smooth operation.
- Accept reassignment as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree
- CT Certification #049 Music PK-12 preferred
- Knowledge of music standards and curriculum
- Must have satisfactory background checks
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Working Conditions:
As a Music Teacher dedicated to supporting children in the school setting, you'll find yourself immersed in a dynamic and impactful environment. Here's what you can expect regarding working conditions:
- Primary work is done within the classroom however it is expected that staff will monitor/work with students during indoor/outdoor physical activities (playground/gym); support students during academic, related service (Speech, OT, PT), and behavioral programming.
- This role may encounter challenging behaviors and situations, requiring patience, empathy, and effective behavior management strategies and the ability to perform Physical Management Techniques (PMT) as needed.
- Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- May be required to travel.
- Working conditions may vary depending on the specific classroom, and the assigned children’s needs.
