Position Summary
The Warehouse Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day workflow of the warehouse operations at a specific distribution center or cross dock. This position will partner with current motor carriers and a pipeline of potential motor carriers. In addition, this position will assist the Central Dispatch Team in monitoring and troubleshooting delivery issues in a proactive and/or highly responsive manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Provide support to Assistant Location Manager and/or Location Manager and lead the team in managers absence
Supervise activities of workers in receiving, storing, order selection, shipping, and loading
Train and supervise warehouse employees
Plan, develop and implement warehouse safety programs, SOPs and activities
Responsible for proper placement and organization of warehouse product
Ensuring warehouse cleanliness and all safety procedures are followed by warehouse employees
Conducting inventory cycle counts, ensuring accuracy, directing stock rotation and consolidation
Assist with monitoring and scheduling employee’s hours to reduce overtime
Conducting daily walk through of facility and making recommendations
Working closely and maintain good working relationships with all departments
Ensure the planning and scheduling of distribution services in executed in a timely manner
Manage and perform activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking transportation
Communicate daily/shift goal of facility and group(s); devise, communicate and implement plans to obtain operational goals; work with and motivate employees to ensure goal achievement; provide progress or constraint updates to management and implement corrective measures as needed
Build a strong rapport with our service providers and clients
Support an environment that fosters open and positive team communication
Enforce location safety management plans
Interview, train, select employees
Make independent discretion and judgement
Manage logistics services
Performing other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred
Two (2) years or more of problem-solving skills experience, use of formal Root Cause Countermeasure and warehouse experience
Must have people management experience and experience with independent contractors
Ability to prioritize and organize work, along with a strong follow-up, analytical, problem-solving, and sound decision-making skills
Ability to effectively communicate in both verbal and written forms with customers, employees, peers, and management.
Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, workgroups, customers, supervisors)
Work self-directed with minimal supervision
Work independently and as a member of a team
Flexibility to operate, and self-driven to excel, in a fast-paced environment
Capability to multi-task and highly organized with excellent time management skills
Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up practices
Intermediate computer skills
Exposure to Lean principles, systems, and tools (beginner level)
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Three (3) years or more of experience in logistics, warehouse, or industry-related field preferred
Systems preferred
WMS experience
