Job Overview: The Environmental Analyst is responsible for analyzing data and conducting research to assess the environmental impact of various projects, processes, and activities. The role involves collecting and interpreting environmental data, preparing reports, ensuring regulatory compliance, and recommending ways to mitigate environmental risks. The analyst will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to promote sustainable practices and maintain adherence to environmental laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Collection and Analysis:
- Gather and analyze environmental data from field studies, surveys, and monitoring programs.
- Utilize statistical tools and software to assess the impact of environmental factors such as air quality, water resources, soil contamination, and waste management.
- Compile environmental data into reports, presentations, and databases for internal and external use.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and other relevant laws.
- Monitor updates to environmental laws and regulations and ensure the organization stays compliant.
- Assist in preparing and submitting permits, environmental impact assessments (EIAs), and other documentation required by regulatory agencies.
- Environmental Assessments:
- Conduct environmental risk assessments and impact studies related to ongoing or planned projects.
- Identify potential environmental hazards and propose mitigation strategies to minimize negative impacts.
- Prepare environmental reports, including site assessments, environmental audits, and compliance reports.
- Sustainability Initiatives:
- Support sustainability programs by identifying opportunities to improve energy efficiency, waste reduction, and resource conservation.
- Collaborate with teams to implement environmentally-friendly policies and initiatives.
- Provide recommendations to improve environmental performance and ensure adherence to sustainability goals.
- Project Support:
- Assist in planning and executing environmental projects, including habitat restoration, pollution control, and waste management.
- Liaise with contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies to ensure projects meet environmental standards.
- Conduct field inspections to monitor project progress and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Communication and Reporting:
- Prepare technical reports, briefing documents, and presentations for internal teams and stakeholders.
- Present findings and recommendations to management and other relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support environmental programs and initiatives.
- Performs other job duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience in environmental analysis, regulatory compliance, or a similar role.
- Experience in conducting environmental assessments and preparing compliance reports.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in environmental software and tools for data analysis (e.g., GIS, MS Excel).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Certification as an Environmental Professional (CEP), LEED Accreditation, or equivalent credentials.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based with occasional fieldwork, including site inspections and environmental monitoring.
- Ability to travel to project sites as required.
