About This Role

  • The ideal candidate will have experience producing compelling digital video content independently and at speed, some experience in politics and/or issue advocacy, and a platform-specific understanding of how to communicate with audiences online.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Creative Production: Build the capacity within the Creative Team for innovative and compelling video and design content. Coordinate every stage of production, from generating relevant concepts to delivering completed products. The content produced supports the Digital Team and is largely short-form videos and motion graphics for social media, tailored to platforms.

  • Rapid Response: Monitor relevant event streams, video, and political cycle moments and trends with an eye toward identifying rapid response opportunities tailored for social media platforms. Independently work to pitch concepts and create assets from those sources.
  • Content Optimization & Trend Awareness: Work closely with Digital Department counterparts to ensure that creative content is optimized for specific social platforms. Follow trends in video and design and maintain awareness of trends on social media, especially around climate politics.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Reach across Climate Power departments and campaigns to develop, retain, and grow a deep understanding of the organization’s messaging priorities and programmatic goals.
  • Concept Development: Work independently and collaboratively to develop and pitch creative digital concepts for planned rapid response opportunities.
  • Additional responsibilities as need and capacity dictates.

Essential Qualifications

  • Three years of relevant prior work experience creating digital video assets, including motion graphics, at an issue-focused non-profit, political, or news organization.
  • Must work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups of people, communities, and partners.
  • Experience producing timely and compelling content to answer planned and unplanned rapid response scenarios.
  • Proficiency in Google Workplace, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and project management applications (like Asana, Monday, etc).
  • Demonstrable in applying and adhering to brand guidelines and understanding composition, typography, and color.
  • Strong understanding of the intersections between climate policy, politics, and the news cycle.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, keen attention to detail, and workflow organization.
  • Interpersonal skills, a sense of humor, and the ability to work well on and across teams. A strong portfolio of digital video work.
