To be considered for this role, you will have a Bachelor's degree with at least five years' experience as a systems thinker/thought leader able to lead cross-functional R&D discussions across global teams. Medical device experience is strongly preferred. In this role you will be responsible for Planning, overseeing, contributing to, and directly implementing systems engineering work products associated with product development efforts.
R&D Project Engineer job duties:- High level requirements generation based on market research, app store review feedback on mobile app products, regulatory body review, and other internal and external data sources.
- Works with project teams to further translate and track these into discipline specific requirements (i.e. electrical, reagent, mechanical, embedded software, mobile device software, cloud platform software, etc.)
- Works to establish and recommend system design that supports these requirements consistent with Diabetes Care goals, organizational capabilities and quality and regulatory standards. Works with the development teams to ensure the successful transformation of these design elements into a final product.
- Works with the development teams to trace these requirements back to their source and forward to the elements of the system that provide them (i.e. design controls).
- Ensure that development teams aggressively manage the interfaces between product subsystems to ensure that the total system meets project, company and regulatory requirements.
- Helps establish risk-based criteria and methodologies for verification and validation of product requirements.
- Lead efforts directed at assessing and managing product and customer risk for assigned projects utilizing tools such as Fault Tree and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.
- Work with the Systems Engineering team to establish state-of-the-art technical capability. Help to develop systems and processes in line with FDA, IVDD & ISO9000 guidelines/directives, as well as their Care Quality Policy, while improving agility of processes in line with Mobile App and cloud-based system development best practices.
Job Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree with at least 5-years in either Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Master's Degree with at least 3-years in either Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
- If non-degreed, 10-years of relevant industry performance.
- Experience with medical devices and/or IVD devices strongly preferred.
Preferred qualifications: - Systems thinker/thought leader able to lead cross-functional discussions.
- Experience working in global teams across time zones a plus.
- Experience with iOS and Android mobile app development or mobile UI design & architecture a plus.
- Experience with cloud-based software systems a plus.
- Strong evidence of successful team participation.
- Strong evidence of excelling at strategic thinking with an understanding of business objectives and goals.
