Senior Backend Engineer

DELLI is a platform to bring a new generation of food producers and their customers together. We believe the world of food is undergoing a fundamental shift and we are here to support the brave individuals that are making it happen. We allow burgeoning independent food makers to build their businesses and instantly reach a nationwide community of customers that are looking for new, more exciting and tastier food options.

We were founded by Simon Beckerman (Co-Founder, Chief Creative Officer) and Marie Petrovicka (Co-Founder, CEO). Simon and Marie previously worked together at Depop - a fashion marketplace founded by Simon, that sold to Etsy for $1.6B in 2021, with 20M users in 147 countries, and a team of 300!

We raised our Seed round from top tier investors Balderton and HV in 2022 and are now looking to speed up our growth. We are now looking for an experienced, engaged, curious Backend Engineer (Full Stack welcome!) to be part of our growing engineering team for this next phase.

The Role

You'll be building efficient, automated systems and expanding our platform using a stack comprised of .NET 8 and C# 12, Azure Kubernetes Services, Orleans, Bicep, and GraphQL using HotChocolate.

You’ll also work closely with our product team, designers and front-end developers to deliver high-quality, scalable and efficient features that help our independent food producers connect with DELLI customers.

What you’ll be doing

• Work closely with designers, product managers, and developers to build and deliver a great user experience
• Design and build the backend solutions required to deliver our value proposition on iOS, Android, and Web
• Design and build high-performing and highly scalable architectures grounded in Domain Driven Design and Microservices, with high availability and observability as core principles
• Ensure the production of high-quality code in line with the principles of modularity and testability
• Ensure the creation of the documentation required for knowledge sharing and optimal onboarding of new team members
• Embrace Collaboration, Feedback, Continuous Learning, and Improvement, which are at the heart of our culture
• Help to drive the definition of our overall technology strategy through collaboration, research, and development

Requirements

• Comfortable with cloud computing platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
• Experience with Kubernetes and Microservices Architecture Pattern
• Experience using Relational or NoSQL databases
• Passion for working in a dynamic startup environment
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbally
• Someone who is self-organised, analytical and pays great attention to detail
• A good track record of shipping code on time and with the highest quality standards

It would be amazing if you also had:

• Full-stack experience within web based solutions
• Have exposure to distributed runtimes like Orleans or service meshes like Istio
• A passion for good food and quality products in general :)
