Reports to: Manager, Quality Control
Location: North Vancouver, BC

Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:

As the Quality Control Specialist, you are part of a small team of resident experts on finished goods quality control standards and processes. You work closely with local and overseas Quality specialists and to develop, implement, and monitor the most effective and efficient finished goods quality control processes. Your expertise enables us to maintain our product and brand integrity by upholding the highest quality standards in technical apparel production.

This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Meet Your Future Team:

You will be working on a cross-functional team of experts responsible for the quality control, assurance, and compliance of our raw materials and finished goods. Our local QC Team interfaces heavily with the Hong-Kong based Sourcing and Quality teams, and you will have the opportunity to partner directly with these teams to achieve quality finished goods that meet the highest quality standards in technical apparel product.

If you were the Quality Control Specialist now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

  • Working directly with our local and overseas Quality teams to standardize QC expectations and tolerances and inspection methods across our vendor base, with particular emphasis on backpacks and footwear categories
  • Investigating quality failures, performing root cause analysis and working with QPMs to implement corrective action plans
  • Folding lessons and experiences from day-to-day issue management into a generalized set of standards and expectations that facilitates failure prevention rather than mitigation
  • Managing inspection processes domestically and overseas through our inspection platform
  • Creating inspection workflows to optimize individual QC efficiencies for specific product types and factories
  • Partnering with local and overseas QC Managers to develop intelligent inspection planning to optimize QC efficiency
  • Working with the other QC Specialists, Quality Data Specialist and QC Manager to understand the elements of product quality that have the greatest impact on customer satisfaction
  • Partnering with Product Development and Product Integrity, as well as our overseas factories to create inspection plans specific to new and existing product types
  • Harmonizing current Quality standards for apparel across new and growing product types, such as footwear, hardgoods and knitwear
  • Visiting overseas factories and performing Quality Control and process audits

Here are some of the things you could be working on in the future:

  • Working with Product Integrity, Design and Sourcing to improve deeper, root-cause limitations to production efficiency and quality
  • Leading Quality control visits to underperforming factories
  • Creating new processes and standards according to the evolving needs of the business

Are you our next Quality Control Specialist?

  • You have 2+ years’ experience quality control, ideally in the apparel industry
  • You have formal training in quality control methods and best practices
  • You have experience working with production or quality in footwear, bags/packs or circular knitting
  • You have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • You are able to balance and focus on multiple, overlapping priorities and deadlines without losing sight of the big picture
  • You have strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • You have good problem solving skills and the grit to persevere through challenging issues
  • You have experience working in a diverse, cross-cultural team
  • You always operate with honesty and integrity
  • You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration
  • You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement
  • You seek the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions, with an unwavering commitment to do what is right
  • Your passion for your work is paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it
