Duties and Responsibilities:

Database Administration

• Establish the needs of users, monitor, and control user access and security.

• Monitor performance, and tune and optimize databases for optimal performance.

• Continuously refine DBMS physical design to meet system storage requirements.

• Install and test new versions of the DBMS.

• Develop, manage, and test backup and recovery plans.

• Conduct capacity planning, ensuring storage and archiving procedures function correctly.

• Contribute to the development, implementation, maintenance, and review of systems, policies, procedures, and practices necessary for the efficient and effective administrative operations of the unit.

Ticket Handling

• Provide 2nd and 3rd Level Helpdesk Support to internal and end users.

• Resolve support issues within SLA obligations and escalate them in a timely manner.

• Organize individual workload to ensure quality, responsive, and appropriate client services.

• Promote effective and efficient communication within the unit and work both autonomously and in a team environment to ensure that deadlines and commitments are met.

Contractual Obligations

• Be aware of SLA targets.

• Uphold the Privacy Act 1998 (AU), Privacy Act 1993 (NZ), and ISO 27001 requirements.

Testing

• Commission and install new applications and customize existing applications to make them fit for purpose.

• Perform internal upgrades and testing of version releases and customizations.

• Provide training and knowledge transfer to internal support staff.

Compliance

• Ensure that implementation projects/programs are completed in accordance with established timeframes and budgets.

• Ensure that work allocated is completed, or issues are escalated in a timely fashion to satisfy budget imperatives.

Safety and Compliance

• Comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures on/off site.

• Uphold ISO27001 Information Security policies within the department and function.

• Comply with Environmental policies and procedures on/off site.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

• 3 years minimum of Azure Database Administrator experience.

• Microsoft Azure Administrator AZ104 (During our discussion we can still endorse candidates with different Azure Certifications)

• Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and related database technologies.

• Proven experience in deploying and maintaining High Availability SQL Instances in a 24x7 Environment.

• Experience with Azure Cloud Services, including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Backup, Recovery Services

• Knowledge of database administration, backup, recovery, and performance tuning.

• Ability to write and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures.

• Experience with data security and encryption methods.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficiency in scripting languages (MSSQL, PowerShell) and database automation tools.

Advantageous Skills:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate

• Familiarity with Azure Devops, Ansible, Terraform

Competencies and Behaviours:

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Strong English communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
