Pay Rate: $78,172 - $83,947/year

ABOUT THE POSITION

This position works with department leadership to plan, coordinate, and manage the creation and execution of high-quality job training programs in accordance with the organization’s strategic goals.  This role oversees a team that conducts community outreach to support student enrollment, leads student recruitment, conducts application and enrollment processing, manages database and records creation, and coordinates and executes student onboarding for all FareStart programs.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to set and meet student enrollment goals and outcomes.  

  • Provide direct supervision to direct reports, including hiring, developing, guiding, goal setting, and performance reviews. 

  • Manage staff and volunteer outreach opportunities and program information sessions that promote FareStart job training programs, increase referrals, and build sustainable, multilateral relationships with external stakeholders.  

  • Work closely with referral partners and affiliated agencies and organizations such as the Department of Corrections to support individuals enrolling into programs and to understand and provide access to services an applicant may already be receiving or in need of accessing. 

  • Ensure up-to-date application, student handbook, and other materials are readily available and accessible to applicants and organizations from diverse communities, actively promoting diversity and FareStart’s commitment to antiracism and always reflecting our value of inclusion.  

  • Oversee and conduct intake interviews that gain insight into applicants’ background and life experiences and provide the case management team with detailed information that will facilitate the onboarding of new students. 

  • Oversee and facilitate applicants’ access to resources for housing, mental and physical healthcare, substance use disorder services, childcare, and other resources as needed for an individual to be able to participate in a program, in collaboration with the case management team. 

  • Collaborate with programs staff to ensure all student materials (e.g. badges, uniforms, supplies) are inventoried, ordered, and distributed in alignment with student and program needs. 

  • Communicate applicant’s acceptance and enrollment to program teams and facilitate program orientations.   

  • Manage the creation of detailed and organized intake records and comprehensive notes in a timely manner to meet organizational and funder requirements. 

  • Use a person-centered, trauma informed approach when working with applicants. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree in social or human services, or related field and four (4) or more years of related experience working with individuals with barriers to employment, such as substance use disorder, criminal history, mental health challenges, domestic violence, or inconsistent work history; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.   

  • Experience managing and developing a team.  Ability to lead and motivate teams. 

  • One (1) or more years of experience with case management.   

  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, LGBTQIA+, and gender backgrounds.  Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities.   

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of community resources and agencies available to support those experiencing homelessness and other challenges.   

  • Demonstrated experience in writing case notes and tracking client progress.  

  • Proficient and experienced in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.  Ability to work with customized databases and technology and to conduct internet research. 

  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team, within diverse teams and environments. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively and comfortably with audiences of different backgrounds and experiences. 

  • Ability to display sensitivity, tact, and responsiveness in various situations and maintain a high level of confidentiality.   

  • Ability to listen, give and receive feedback in a productive and professional manner.   

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt communication based on audience and purpose with inclusivity.  Ability to disseminate information effectively to appropriate levels. 

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. 

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks and requests and meet deadlines in a professional manner.    

  • Ability to evaluate problems and effectively solve them in a timely manner.  Ability to respond to concerns with empathy and inclusivity.  Respond appropriately to conflict.   

  • Ability to delegate responsibilities, work with others, and coach employees to develop their full potential.  Provide helpful, behaviorally specific feedback to others.  Regularly meet with employees to review their development progress and express confidence in their abilities to be successful.  Engage in open and honest communication.    

  • Ability to work a non-standard/flexible schedule, which may include weekends, evenings, and holidays. 

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience with motivational interviewing. 

  • Experience in employment and/or workforce development programs. 

  • Strong orientation to detail and ability to develop scalable systems as programs grow.
