As a Senior Bioprocess Engineer at Uncommon, you’ll be at the forefront of designing and executing the processes that will bring our cultured meat products to commercial scale. As a key member of the Bioprocess team, you will shine through your biotechnology expertise and your ability to collaborate with others. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a mission-driven, bold environment and is excited by the opportunity to help build our mission.</p><p><br></p><p></p><p></p><p></p><p><strong>What you’ll be doing:</strong></p><ul><li>Be responsible for designing, executing and analysing experiments in our bioreactors.</li><li>Training and mentoring of junior staff on bioreactor process development.</li><li>Provide process development technical expertise on cross-functional projects including improvement of recovery, cost of goods, technology transfer and scale-up.</li><li>Collaborate with various R&D and Quality teams to ensure the suitability of the processes developed.</li><li>Optimise our processes, ensuring that they are robust and scalable.</li><li>Plan, install and run our new bioprocessing equipment.</li><li>Transfer our processes to pilot and commercial scales.</li></ul><p><br><br></p><h5><strong>What we think you need:</strong></h5><ul><li>Extensive experience in Bioprocessing, Biotechnology or Biochemical Engineering.</li><li>Substantial experience in aseptic cell culture.</li><li>Subject matter expert for bioreactor platforms at scales ranging 3L to 200L.</li><li>Hands-on mammalian bioprocessing experience (pluripotent stem cell experience is a plus).</li><li>Troubleshooting skills and problem-solving track record.</li><li>Using multifactorial experimental methods and/or QbD.</li><li>Understanding of GMP and relevant ISO standards.</li></ul><p></p><p><strong>We’d love it if you also have:</strong></p><ul><li>Experienced with a range of bioreactor platforms and control systems.</li><li>Experience with bioprocess automation and control engineering.</li><li>Experience scaling up and transferring processes from lab to manufacturing scale.</li><li>Experience in the assessment of potential equipment options.</li><li>GMP experience.</li><li>Experience with computer simulations and Process Analytical Technologies (PAT, CFD etc.).</li></ul><p><br><br></p><p></p><p></p><p><strong>Reward</strong></p><p>Alongside a competitive base salary, all our people get these benefits:</p><ul><li>Share options</li><li>28 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)</li><li>Enhanced parental leave pay</li><li>Cycle-to-work scheme and wellbeing allowance </li><li>Flexible hours</li><li>"Make your work life easier" annual stipend</li><li>Regular team dinners and social activities</li><li>Snacks, fruits, tea, coffee and more!</li></ul><p> </p><p><em>Uncommon recruits, employs, trains, compensates and promotes regardless of race, religion, colour, national origin, sex, disability, age, and other protected status as required by applicable law.
