Knowledge, Skills and Competencies
- Maintaining light weight servers with Linux and Windows OS, maintaining accounts and services required to run CI/CD tools.
- Standing up and maintaining FTP sites and managing their permissions.
- Keeping systems maintained with patches and regular back-ups.
- Virtualization and containerization technologies such as virtual machines, Docker containers, etc.
- Competence with scripting languages such a Python.
- Expertise with tools used for continuous integration pipelines such as Jenkins, Azure Pipelines, Concourse CI, etc. Ability to create and maintain Jenkins Blue Ocean Pipelines.
- Managing cloud resources (build, database, etc) on AWS, Azure or similar.
- Experience with binary repositories such as JFrog Artifactory.
- Creating and maintaining databases on cloud resources, for example on AWS RDS.
- Creating and maintaining dash boards is a plus.
Our dev-ops engineer will be tasked to maintain local resources for automated tests and CI builds. This will include all maintenance aspects of one of more light weight servers in our lab and working with corporate IT when we need resources from them or to resolve issues with networking or permissions, etc. This engineer will work with firmware and software developers to design, update and maintain a full CI pipeline from code commits to builds, static code analysis, automated testing, build promotion and dashboards for reporting metrics. This will include required scripting, defining jobs and building pipelines in Jenkins (or similar in equivalent tools). Periodic database maintenance will be required.
The dev-ops engineer will also be involved in defining, implementing and maintaining any cloud resources we choose to use in our pipeline. This will include implementing the proper security measures to ensure no leaks of intellectual property or denial of service. •
