Job Title:     Composition Specialist

FUNCTION

The Composition Specialist is responsible for ensuring correct translation from paper or digital document to final product format as required by the customer.  This responsibility may include editing the document per the customer’s direction such as adding, deleting, changing data per the customer’s work instruction and/or edited markup.  Changes may be provided directly from the customer or through another department of the company.  The Composition Specialist is also responsible for making corrections to documents as marked by the quality department. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Reviews published materials and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, content and methods of reproduction and binding

·        Develops material for publication

·        Edits, standardizes or makes changes to material prepared by other writers or personnel

·        Confers with customer representatives, vendors or publisher to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material being developed for publication

·        Maintains records and files of work and revisions

·        Identifies photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts to illustrate material

·        Other duties as assigned

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Experience editing documents using various software applications to include but not limited to Microsoft Word, Word Perfect and Adobe Acrobat products.  Proficient in proofreading documents and attention to detail.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Individuals must have at least two (2) years of experience using Microsoft Office products and be capable of performing proficiently of a Windows based operating system.

Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) skills.

 

EDUCATION REQUIRED

HS Diploma

Ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required to acquire a Secret Clearance.
