A quick look at the role. 

The Operational Support Manager (OSM) supports all regions across the UK and the main priority is to ensure all daily work is completed as efficiently and cost effectively as possible without compromising health, safety and legal compliance.

The Operational Support Manager will work closely with supplier's, Depot's and Container Distribution Centre's and conduct site visits to understand bespoke container requirements, complete incident investigations and ensure operational equipment is maintained and legally compliant.

Flexibility is key as the role does involve a significant amount of travel each week, across the UK, and while on site, there will be a requirement to ensure all relevant legislative requirements are adhered to, and that company procedures and standards are maintained.

• Ensure container repairs and health and safety standards are maintained to the highest level in the most cost-effective way.
• Assist in the evaluation of new initiatives and strategic overviews of operations including management of projects and work with key stakeholders as defined by the parameters of the project.
• Ensure container documentation is managed in accordance with company standards and legal requirements and that there is effective fault diagnosis by the team and subsequent rectification of defects (on location).
• Manage safety and legal compliance for the Container Team, manage Quality Audits (supplier & Depot) and internal container stock audits to improve accuracy in reporting.
• Drive improvement of the operational systems, processes and policies to support national growth and performance of the department.
• Support the Container Distribution Centre (CDC) and transport management requirements when required.

Requirements

Here’s what we require:

• Full UK Driving Licence is required and the ability to travel often with frequent overnight stays.
• Experience of working as an Operations Manager or a position of similar responsibility ideally in Services or Logistics Industry.  
• Knowledge and/or experience of delivering continuous improvement within an Operational or Service environment.  
• Previous experience of completing service and repair documentation and records to meet required standards.
• Experience of maintaining and repairing waste handling equipment.
• An understanding of the requirements of working within a time critical service would be beneficial.

• Well organised with excellent attention to detail. 
• Self motivated and able to work individually and as part of a large team.
• Able to create/manage their own workload effectively while keeping to strict deadlines.  
• Able to respond positively to on-going changes in a challenging and dynamic environment.
• Able to communicate with conviction, plan with precision and most importantly, work well with others.
