Apt Resources is seeking a General Manager for our client's Industrial Equipment division, which also includes luggage and travel products.
As the General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of retail and service operations, including budget preparation and setting strategic goals to achieve sales targets. You will manage staff, address client concerns, and ensure strict compliance with company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Strategy Formulation:
- Develop the department's strategic objectives and KPIs in alignment with the company's overall strategy and the directives of the direct manager. Create action plans, ensure effective implementation to achieve these objectives, and set individual goals as needed.
- Monitor and control the execution of strategies and action plans, aiming to achieve the department's operational results, reduce risks, and ensure accurate decision-making.
- Manage sales and oversee ordering processes.
- Control promotions and publishing activities.
- Take a hands-on approach to P&L management and forecasting.
- Follow up on service agreements and approvals.
- Oversee the creation of annual sales plans.
- Track daily sales performance.
Budget & cost Control:
- Create the department's annual budget and assign targets and responsibilities to ensure that all employees operate within the allocated budget.
- Track and manage expenses in comparison to the approved budget, and resolve any discrepancies to ensure performance remains aligned with budgetary goals.
Policies & Processes:
- Oversee, maintain, and enhance the department's policies and processes, ensuring alignment with organizational standards, laws, and regulations, and ensuring their proper implementation.
- Assist in auditing the financial records of the business unit/operations and collaborate efficiently with external auditors.
- Carry out any additional duties related to the role as assigned by the direct manager.
People Management:
- Provide direction to subordinates to ensure efficient workflow and help them understand their roles in achieving the department's goals.
- Identify staffing needs and participate in recruitment and selection activities in accordance with company policies to ensure the timely hiring of skilled and knowledgeable employees.
- Ensure subordinates are aware of the required technical and behavioral competencies, including knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Oversee the onboarding process for new employees, conduct probationary evaluations, and collaborate with HR on decisions regarding employment confirmation or termination.
- Set individual objectives for team members, conduct annual performance reviews, and recommend promotions in alignment with company policies.
- Identify employees’ training needs and ensure the effective delivery of training and development initiatives in coordination with the Training & Development team, providing feedback to the direct manager.
- Attract, develop, and retain skilled and dedicated staff.
- Manage leave and attendance for direct subordinates to ensure adherence to the company’s policies.
- Delegate responsibilities and assign tasks to subordinates to support the completion of various tasks and work-related activities.
Reporting:
- Regularly prepare and submit reports to the Direct Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a relevant field in industrial equipment
- Proven 10 years of experience in a similar position in a public or private organization.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage complex projects and tasks.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and other departments.

Benefits
Total Salary Package: 35000 - 40000 QAR plus Family Status provided.
