The particular programming languages the candidate uses may not matter. Some programming experience is needed, but the candidate might have experience developing administration tools using open-source technologies like Webmin, which might not require much custom programming. • Utilize best practices in software engineering to ensure code quality, reliability, and maintainability of administration tools.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex issues related to administration tools, providing timely resolutions to minimize downtime and disruptions.
  • Conduct thorough testing, performance tuning, and optimization of administration tools to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in administration tool development, incorporating relevant advancements into our toolset.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment within the team.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather feedback, identify areas for improvement, and prioritize enhancements to administration tools based on business needs.
  • Maintain documentation, user guides, and training materials for administration tools to facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure effective utilization across the organization.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5 years experience, in some combination of: Using enterprise administration tools of any sort – e.g. being a member of something like an IT department, or High-Performance Computing team. Software development or “system admin” type scripting, with some portion being a focus on building administration tools or related systems.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming and/or scripting languages such as Python, Java, C++, Bash or PowerShell.
  • Strong understanding of web technologies, APIs, and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of database systems (SQL and NoSQL) and experience with data modeling and manipulation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions within scheduled timelines.
